W&M receiving money from NCAA
Anybody know what we plan to spend the $600,000 on, since the proposal has to be submitted within 3 months ?
Assume this NCAA payout was known to be coming and the College's proposal tentatively determined.

RE: W&M receiving money from NCAA
Where is this money coming from? Why is this apportioned equally? Is the NCAA a true not-for-profit?

If the NCAA were really interested in the well-being of student athletes, you wouldnt have luxurious suites in one institution and locker rooms under 70 year old bleachers in the other.

Should the NCAA adopt a more socialist approach? All funds amassed from TV and outside merchandising etc would be put into a pool and distributed equally to all member institutions based on # of scholarships alone. Successful programs getting more money is how we've ended up with a multi-tiered structure with an elite 50 colleges taking nearly all of the pie. Is this good for college sports? There will always be private donations, but that can be separated.

Endow a position for a sports chaplain for the athletes ... seems to fit every criteria.

RE: W&M receiving money from NCAA
From the first article, an endowment was liquidated, and the funds there are being distributed amongst all DI schools based on number of scholarships.

This may be part of the O'Bannon settlement.
