3rd in the MAC. That's exactly right IMO, though without all the terrible injuries last year they could have won the West again.

If NIU is at 86 this year I'd take that in a heartbeat. I think that's somewhat optimistic but I'd take it

Boston College is ranked pretty low. Should have a great chance for a win.

I'd like to be more optimistic about BC but their defense is strong enough that especially with a young QB it will be a struggle to move the ball, unless our O-line is a lot better than it has been.

The Defensive coordinator they had last time we played them moved to Michigan last year. Not sure how tough their defense will be.

I was so excited when this game was announced during SchedulePalooza. Hopefully the Huskies get revenge because our loss to them in Boston was very winnable. IIRC, it was the game after we played #1 Ohio St within a touchdown at the Horseshoe.

You're right it was very winnable. After Turner returned the kickoff, we were still in the game. Then, Hare had at least two shots at hitting TLL for a touchdown. The last play of the game, TLL was completely open but the pass was short. I think Hare took so many hits that game that his passing was off. The replays of that last play were hard to watch. Of course, it hurt doubly hard when we saw all the missed opportunities from the previous OSU game.

RE: BC at NIU reference
There is not a great disparity between the NIU and BC football programs success/quality-wise over the last 15 years. Why is it such a "weird road trip?" Because ESPN and other media put a sticker on our helmet that said "mid-major" and we're all supposed to go along with that taxonomy and rejoice when a similarly-talented football team with a P5 patch on their jersey plays on our home turf?

I think/hope the improved football stadium whenever it shows up will help dismantle a portion of this hierarchical B.S. vis-a-vis NIU and the media.

+1. Pretty much every "weird" road trip was a P5 school playing at a G5 school.
