Very odd move. I don't get it. All those years, championships, ncaa appearances, stable program and he jumps ship for powerhouse Duquesne?!?

sort of a what el;se can you do at akron. pitt is nearby but a bigger more interesting city. basketball is the main sport at duquense. the A10 is a better conference. it isn't a big step up. but if you are 60 and want to write a new chapter in your career. it makes sense. maybe he'll pull a Lebron and make a return in 4 years.

Sadly the A10 has way more respect than the MAC. Not only are the basketball programs at a higher level, but their schools have way more respect academically. Ohio and Miami are only schools in MAC that compare academically.

Or a Dakich and returning four days. Didn't the BSU guy turn them down?

The BSU guy has been named as a possibility at Dayton.

Archie Miller, for example, was making 2 million at Dayton and they offered him more to stay.

Looks like he's staying at Duquesne.

Dayton has that kind of money to offer its head coaches...Dayton?? 04-jawdrop

And Toledo doesn't even come close to that...What's wrong with this picture?

What's wrong........Dayton draws close to 13,000 per home game, while Toledo draws 4,500.

Football (when Toledo plays on Saturdays) Toledo 20,000; Dayton 2,000

was going to say, Dayton doesn't have D1 football.

ALSO ITS A PRIVATE INSTITUTION which is a huge factor.

They play in the Pioneer Football League, which is non-scholarship FCS. What they spend on football compared to MAC schools is minuscule.

It would be interesting to see what they raise per year in donations to the athletic department since that's the primary source for the coach's salary.

2000 for Pioneer football sounds about right. I would expect that, but 20,000 for Toledo on a Saturday. Nothing to hang your hat on.
We should do at least 25,000 plus. Toledo should love their Rocket football like Dayton loves Flyer basketball.
