We also have the best shooter in Australia, Gabe Hadley (6'3 Fr) joining as well.
Sidy Ndir (6'2 So) and Marlon Jones (6'9 Jr) will also be healthy and ready to join the rest of the squad, Braxton Huggins (6'4 Sr), Jermaine Haley (6'7 So), Eli Chuha (6'8 Jr), Jemerrio Jones (6'5 Sr), and Johnthan Wilkins (6'10 Sr)
We are also recruiting two other top 100 JUCO recruits, #18 Corey Davis, and #77 Vance Johnson.
Obviously, Weir is bringing in a group of new players who could make an immediate impact on the program.
With the addition of
Tyree Robinson (6' 5" 220-lbs), Weir brings in an undersized power forward who plays with a high motor and attacks the rim with high efficiency...
With the addition of
Jachai Simmons (6' 8, 180-lbs), Weir brings in the type of wing forward that NMSU currently lacks. A big forward who can shooting it with consistency from beyond the arc and is still athletic enough to take to the rim.
With the addition of
Gabe Hadley (6' 3", 180-lbs), Weir brings in a skilled sniper who can change the focus of opposing defenses. According to Weir, he considers Hadley the best perimeter shooter coming out of Australia in this 2017 class.
And, with the addition of
Lionel "LJ" Figueroa (6' 5", 195-lbs), Weir brings in a "skilled" big strong guard who could eventually develop into NMSU's best all-around player on the team. A player who could hopefully lead NMSU to a win in the NCAA tournament.
And then Weir has a few players waiting on the sidelines as red-shirts who could change the character of next season's team.
With the addition of
Amos "AJ" Harris (5' 9" 165-lbs), Weir brings in a ultra-athletic little point guard with quickness and speed. A player who can breakdown a defender with his dribble. And, yet Harris also possess three point range. He is NMSU's version of GCU's Dewayne Russell and CSUB's Dedrick Basile.
With the addition of
Bollo Gnahore (6' 10" 260-lbs), Weir brings in a project big man at center who has the potential to develop into another Chili Nephawe with time. Early on, Bollo will just add depth and size off the bench. But as he gains confidence, he might be the big man Weir needs to anchor his defense as a rim protector.
With the addition of
Johnny McCants (6' 7", 200-lbs), Weir brings in a local kid who is extremely athletic. The raw talent is visible. And, he has shown some shooting skills at the New Mexico high school level. But as of now, he is a blank canvas who could become anything with hard work.
And, with the return of
Sidy Ndir (6' 2" 185-lbs), Weir gets back probably his overall most complete guard. Sidy is very athletic. And, he can score with proficiency from all three zone on the court. He was NMSU's top scorer at the time of his injury.
And, with the return of
Marlon Jones (6' 9", 220-lbs), Weir get back a big man who could compliment Chuha. The jury is still out on the impact of Marlon since he got injured before he could really get going offensively. But most (Aggie fans) feel Marlon could put up better numbers than Wilkins.
The key to moving the WAC to the next level is to produce teams which have effective scoring from all five positions in the line-up and the ability to score in all three zones on the court (Beyond the arc, mid-range, and at the rim) despite the competition.
