Vandy would have to want to host it.

NCAA doesn't need Vanderbilt.

Nashville gets first weekends frequently with the OVC as hosts.

As I understand it, a school has to host the NCAA tourney sites. Doesn't have to be Vandy but what other D-1 BB school is in Nashville?

I don't think so, the rounds that were in San Jose were hosted by the PAC 12

Seriously? Belmont, Lipscomb, Tennessee State, and Vanderbilt are all DI in Nashville. Middle Tennessee could probably sneak in if they pushed for it.

But conferences host NCAA sites constantly. OVC is a great thing for Nashville.

It makes sense and both settings have their pluses and minuses.

Nashville is more centrally located to schools in the mid-south/midwest part of the country. Shorter drives for SEC/OVC/MAC/ACC/CUSA schools.

Nashville has more hotel room to accommodate lodging for eights schools and their fanbases.

Memphis has a nicer facility for the S16/E8 games. Transportation is easier and the city is more basketball friendly.

Hosting sweet 16's and NBA basketball versus NFL team and NHL team. NFL wins hands down.

Titans are a joke.

I hope the hip and edgy Nashville transplants are okay with subsidizing Bud Adams' dumb*ss family.

The NFL is the top draw, not doubt. It is great for a community (except St. Louis, Oakland, San Diego...lol). But the NFL gives a town eight home games. While the NBA and college basketball is almost seventy games to see and discuss. The Grizz out draw the Titans, or any other NFL team, in attendane...total numbers.

The price points for those NFL games are much higher than for most NBA games, almost double.

The 'total numbers' that matter. NFL and NBA are not even close. NBA vs NHL is a more appropriate discussion.

NBA vs. NFL is apples and oranges. The Grizzlies get more in terms of total attendance than the Titans do (in total for a season). The Grizzlies probably make substantially more revenue than the Titans do (in total for a season). But, I anticipate Nashville makes a ton from tourism those weekends.

Except those that post.

The article gave a good reason why each city hosted the respective tournament rounds and yet it degraded into Memphis vs Nashville. Who cares.

NBA/NFL have very little to do with the article
