Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signs bill to outlaw immigration sanctuaries

Quote:JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Gov. Phil Bryant has signed a law banning sanctuary cities and other policies that might help people who have entered the country illegally.

In signing the law Monday, the governor said he's also looking for other ways the state can cooperate with federal agencies to arrest people without legal status.

The bill says cities, state agencies and public colleges cannot prevent employees from asking someone's immigration status. Public agencies also cannot help people entering the country without permission, such as by issuing an ID card.

The bill would override Mississippi's only sanctuary policy, a 2010 Jackson ordinance that prevents police officers from asking about immigration status.

Critics say the bill isn't necessary, has no penalties for anyone breaking the law and reflects prejudice against immigrants.

How? Most of the urban areas didn't vote for him anyway. The leeches will need to fund 100% of their light rail projects going forward.

Because he won't be able to withhold the funds. He'll try...and like health care...and travel ban...fail.
Only if a leftist judge gets in the way, which he probably will. I will give you that. Let it go to the Supreme Court and I bet you the cities will lose. You and I shouldn't have to fund a light rail project in LA for example.

That's why I suggested using the courts. You get to choose your venue that way. Challenge every sanctuary law. Then open a second front using a class action victims suit against sanctuary cities. Gather the victims of crimes by illegals that were released by sancuary cities and blast them with a billion dollar wrongful death suit. I'm sure there's a lawyer willing to take a price of that pie.

This has got to be the ridiculous comment of the month. The country's most conservative major public university? Now maybe the flakes in student government may be talking about it, but nobody pays attention to them.

It is the student body talking about it with a lot of support from faculty and students.
