Did Murph steal your password Beed?

Watching how Stans handled his big 4 last year leaves me with a bad feeling in my stomach. He was terrified to do any correction on those guys.

What Stans has done with this recruiting class is mind boggling. Hopefully there'll be so much talent he can just roll the ball out and say go get 'em. It's deep enough that if he has any coaching bones (and I'm not convinced due to his records) he can get in players asses over not playing defense and someone will be hungry enough on the bench to compete.

But until I see it in action I have my reservations. I will of course get my season tickets. "You better get your tickets" - Stansbury May 2016

I'm in the same boat on bench coaching but we been told over and over it's 80% players, 20% coaching....

30 games at 80% = 24 wins

To your point on getting on the 4 players. It did not show it on TV but at the conference tourney on the play were USTA got the offensive rebound to seal the win. Coach Stansbury chewed JJ out for it and it wasn't his man that got the rebound. I believe it was Que Johnson's man. But instead of screaming at Que, Stansbury took it out on JJ.

It was so quiet in there you could hear everything...I'm usually fairly quiet watching a game. But it pissed me off so much I stood up and told coach it wasn't JJ's fault, it was 2 of the 4 Sr's under there that failed to box out and go hard for the rebound. Coach Stansbury's brother who was sitting fairly close by gave me one helluva dirty look.

Quickest way to lose a team is to play favorites. I'm not going to say coach can't handle the top star players the same way he can a Damari Parris. But at this point I have to see it. So that's a concern I have also but I'm welling to go into the season....

saying last year was just one of those things and he will improve on that part. But we will see. If it doesn't, what a waste.

EXACTLY guns. Hell, Stans might get so mad at Mitchell Robinson this year that he'll tear a hole in Damari's ass so big he has to wear Depends.

You saw how he played favorites with Que and NoBomba and Pancakes. Can you imagine how hard he'll be licking Mitchell Robinson's ass? By all appearances Mitchell seems to be fine young man. The few interviews I've seen he comes across humble and kind of soft spoken. But he was actually late to the game of being a 5*. He didn't have his ass licked properly by grown men until the summer after his junior year. So we may very well dodge a bullet in that regard.

I didn't go to Indian Hills CC to hear the coaches last night (didn't have an invite) but one of my best friends did. He told me when they opened the floor up for questions after Stans' normal comedy routine that an older gentleman probably in his 80's asked Stans this: "I love the recruiting and that really is great but did you recruit anybody that can play defense or rebound and will you make them play defense and rebound?"

Stans chuckled and told some story about when he realize Pancake didn't really love to play dee...ha ha ha inserted here. Deflected the question.

If I knew who that old sumbitch was that asked him that I'd send him a box of cigars for asking it.

So anyway... Another three star commits... this time it is Chris Duarte. According to Scout had offers from Syracuse, Providence, USC, Temple and St. Johns.

Rumors abound that 6'9" Kansas graduate transfer Dwight Coleby is interested and may or may not have visited today?

Amazing stuff from YG and Beed, two guys who never said a word about the mediocre hoops we witnessed during Harper's times, was always "wait until next season or wait until Harper gets a point god"...We have a recruiting class ranked top 10 nationally not 10th in cusa like Harper's, but in the NATION that has not been seen before in decades at WKU, yet all they can do is "harp" on any negative they can find.....Clear as day on this thread fans play favorites too on who shakes their hand or not as Dumb and Dumber have shown in this thread and have the past few seasons...Its clear what coach shook their hand and which coach has not...

Yes it is 518. Very good on paper. There are concerns, especially now with JJ, aka the man, not playing until Jan. Just enjoy the positives right now.

I am trying too! Definitely trying to be cautiously optimistic, I know pre season and summer games can build up the hype two fold, but really hard to not be excited with what we have coming in next season...

Zero chance.

The NCAA Selection committee in its current itineration has always favored the Major Conference teams and left a lot of really good teams out.

Join the SEC though, and you can go 17-13 and make the tournament.

^^^This^^^

P5 $$$ is now buying them invitations into the tournament. Head coach of UCLA even said it on the radio yesterday. The days of mid major Cinderellas (and all the fun with it) is getting pushed out. P5 can't monetize Cinderellas.

Shut the **** up....

you whinny little turd. You did it daily, for 4 years, nonstop. If you don't expect 24 wins with this much talent and a weak as hell schedule...why not?

As for shaking a coaches hand...you wouldn't know anything about that...sitting in front of a TV 99% of the games. Making excuses why you cant get to BG. You complain about everything for 4 years and you are flat out lying when you say 7. Harper was not the coach for 7 years only a f'ing fool would say that.

I could care less if a coach shakes my hand or not...most fans that goes to the games actually feels that way..its you TV fans that say that ****. So point out where I said anything negative in my post? Expecting 24 wins is negative? Say what I saw with my own eyes...yes I understand the TV camera doesn't show it all. So you wouldn't know...you would if you were there. Oh, wait...now since the tourney is moving from B'ham...what was it you said?

"I was planning on going to B'ham, this year". Right...you haven't been to a conference tourney since the last time it was at Diddle. Then you were probably in school and only had to walk 100 feet or so. ...you f'ing whinny turd

I wonder how the coach will keep all of these players happy with PT.

Is there such a thing as "too much talent" ?

See what I mean? Shows himself to be the ass he really is....Daily, lmao....YOu guys said zero word last 7 seasons how bad we really were...You pick and choose and highlight what you wanted to highlight...Now we have a coach you don't like you pick and choose the negatives...Everyone knows how you operate by now...So you shut the **** up.....I am sick and tired of you talking about his previous record at an SEC school when the SEC was pretty good at hoops back a few years ago and would not consider winning 64% of your games in the SEC to be weak....What I do consider weak is your boy's Harper's record last 4/7 seasons....I just want to point out not all WKU fans will throw Rick under the bus after two years, some like me have faith in his coaching ability and his ability to manage the talent he has....I am not putting a win/loss total yet on season, you are clearly already setting up if we lose 10 games to hammer on Stans..Meanwhile Harper had a moving target on wins and could lose 15 games and you wouldn't say a word...So yea I call them like I see it too.........I went to 4 games last season and plan on being at most weekend games this season....So stop trying to divide our already little fan base just because you have the time and money to be at every game home and away, good for you! Hopefully when I retire that will be me one day!

No, there is no such thing as too much talent. The players that don't do enough with their PT will get their minutes cut and probably transfer at the end of the year.

"Pass on your offers from programs in power/multi-bid leagues to come to Western Kentucky, you may get recruited over and be looking to transfer after a year...but you can enjoy burning a year of eligibility getting in during garbage time against FAU/FIU/UTSA et al"

That's quite the pitch.

I have a feeling WKU is going to speed things up this year since we will have plenty of depth, let them press until they about drop then put the next five in

The question wasn't "as a recruit, would you want to play on a team where you might not play"? It was can you have too much talent and the answer is still no.

WKU just bagged one of the top grad transfers on the market in UVA guard Darius Thompson who chose WKU over VCU (I know you ODU fans will appreciate that). We are also in the mix for Kansas grad transfer Dwight Coleby.

You must have got in the liquor cabinet early today. You cried like a little ***** for 4 years and then Harper's last year all we heard for a solid year was how easy it was to turn a team over in one year like Little Rock's coach did. Said it over and over.

You didn't mention that one time last year. Ran and hid from it. Said it was special circumstance and whatever. Guns and I both knew that was lightning in a bottle. But you acted like it happened all the time.

I have given Stansbury major props repeatedly for his recruiting. I have also called out WHAT I SAW last year. Who made you king of Stansbury's record in the SEC? His record is his damn record. It's what he did in a league that basically had 2 really good teams in UK and UF. The rest were not all world as you claim. He lost DOUBLE FIGURE games in 11 of 14 years. That was with OOC preseason bunnies that he rolled big records against. He won 56% of his conference games. That's not some number I made up. That is a fact.

I am thrilled with what he has done recruiting wise. I was not thrilled with him making zero attempt to make his big 4 play defense last year. All I have to go on is his previous record and the one year I've seen him coach.

I will be at every home game just like I am every year. I'm very excited about what we have coming in. But I damn sure am not penciling in 32-0 like you knuckleheads. Guns thinks we should win 24 because of how weak the schedule is. I don't see it out of Stansbury and I'm allowed to say what I want. You're not Sheriff Galojay running behind me trying to put fires out.

A common sense post requires liquor, that's a first? ....Nope just funny how we as fans pick and choose what the target is...WIth you its a moving target with Stansbury, for Harper was not...Harper continued to get passes from you while I was sick of seeing medicore play with zero point guards in 5 years...So if I was sick of seeing WKU being bad at basketball, that makes me a whiny little *****, so be it would complain season after season with what I witnessed with your boy....I was sick of getting destroyed by teams that we should not get destroyed by...I was sick of losing players to Div. III teams or players disappear of the face of the earth after they left WKU......I was sick of Harper and staff not being able to evaluate talent, clearly even the guys he missed sucked for the most part..., ..Seems fair right?

Stans most successful teams played the hell out of defense @ MIss. St., so maybe last season was an aberration and not enough time to get who he wanted in, I am willing to forget last season and move forward...I never said Harper can go 30-4 and be LIttle ROck...I was pointing out college hoops is a different world now, you don't need 5 years to turn it around and have a successful season, my counter was not even with you, was with some poster saying Harper needs more time after 4 seasons, Time after 4 seasons proved he clearly could nto get it done...

With the influx of transfers, one and dones, better coaching in high school, etc, with enough talent you can turn it around quickly in this day and age...I never said we have to win 30 games, my point was other examples of quick turnarounds, simple as that....Now I know you will just say I am making excuses for Stansbury, I say the guy gets a few more years than 1 to prove whether he can get it done or not...Harper got his time to prove if he could recruit or evaluate talent, he could not, so its only fair Stans gets time to get his guys in he wants playing for him...

I have not put a win total yet on this upcoming season, I have never said we are winning 30 games and running through CUSA, you must have me confused with someone else...What I am saying is you two already on the ready to jump all over Stansbury for any type of negatives, season is not even close......Which is insane compared to Harper's tenure just compared to recruiting alone...Meanwhile I am going to enjoy seeing what this team can do before I point out what happened last season...Last season is done, time to move forward and see what the most talented team at WKU in 20 years can do...
