Haha, true...but after TCU basketball under Neil Dougherty, Jim Christian, and Trent Johnson I'll take 69th best...it is better than 269th best.
Someone above me mentioned it, but the thing that stood out to me was the fact that UCF only managed 5 assists on offense. TCUs teams were like that under Trent Johnson and it drove me crazy.
With a guy like Tacko in the post it seems like he should be able to be kicking it out for 4-6 assists per game just by finding open shooters when he gets double teamed.

Last night BJ and Matt looked like they were trying to win the game on their own. Even AJ's big dunk was an isolation 1-on-1. While we haven't been UCLA by any stretch of the imagination this year, there was more passing around the perimeter.
Tacko is still a bit of a liability with the ball in the post. Maybe next year we'll see him progress and get more of those inside-out assists.
Good game though TCU. You passed around and got Tacko out of position better than the vast majority of the teams we played this year.

Absolutely you should be happy and it's just an uncle poking fun at his favorite nephew.

No, it's not true. There are about 32 teams in the NCAA that are only there because their conference HAD to have a representative. Do you really think Mt St Mary's from the Northeast conference is a better team than ANYONE in the NIT final 4? I don't think so....

Yes obviously there are teams in the NIT field that are better than some of the teams that get auto bids from the lowest level leagues. But I could care less to argue how good (i.e. 30th, 40th, 50th, etc...) in the country the NIT champ typically is.

Sorry. I just hate inaccuracy for "pile-on" sake. I.E. insulting a fan of a team that just won a tournament. It's hurtful enough (and fair) to say they won... but it's not like they won the NCAA. But it crosses a line in my mind to add a falsehood on top of it in order to "pile-on."

Taco was a factor and I've seen him more dominant than he was last nite good ucf first half, but tcu won the 2nd half an the game.
I believe if taco had a triple double an the guards were hitting the threes ucf would have won.
Congrats on a good year, I enjoyed watching.

RE: ESPN Tonight, Tues 9 pm: UCF vs TCU NIT Semifinal
UCF shot a very respectable 45.1% from 3 in first half (5-11), but when panic mode struck when UCF fell behind for basically the entire 2nd half...bad/rushed shots were forced and UCF shot just 7.1% from 3 (1-14) and just 24% from the field.
Tacko had 4 FG attempts in first half (2-4), as most of those attempts were early in the 1st half...but much of the rest of that half and all of the 2nd half...there wasn't much push to get Tacko the ball on the low block nor specific plays called for him.
Tacko had just 1 FG attempt in 2nd half (made it), was fouled on another where he made 1 of 2 FT's.
Next year, the guards and wings have to do a MUCH better job to get Tacko active at the low post...as its such a huge advantage for him and UCF...as he dwarf's his competition in most games and his low post game is improving (hard to see when he doesn't get many touches).

UCF had a good season. Does Tacko stay or go pro? I think if any of these teams, UCF, USF & ECU, can get both Football and Basketball going. They would be in the Big 12 with Cincy. I know everyone says football rules the world but basketball is the next in line. If ECU had just been able to make NITs on annual basis, they would have been in the Old Big East 20 years ago.
If Dawkins has another season like this one, he will be offered a Power 6 job. Actually surprised he was not mentioned this year. That is one Duke Coach I always wanted NCSU to go after. Still happy about Coach Keats.

Tacko needs to stay just from a Stength and Conditioning aspect. He's still too thin. Needs more bulk.
His average minutes are pretty low too. I would assume it's more from foul trouble than conditioning, but it wouldn't hurt to build up too.

Tacko is already almost 300 lbs (listed 290)...so the staff doesn't want him to go over that...as every extra added pound increases the chance of knee and foot problems on bigs.
Yes, some games this year he got 2 quick fouls in first halfs and missed a lot of PT (i.e. like UCONN game in Orlando), but he still averaged over 26 mins per game this year...and I think next year...he could get to 30 mins, as long as he stays out of foul trouble.
He was actually so much stronger this year, that lead to more offensive calls on him as his stretch even backing into guys bowled a few over, which lead to more calls. (If he was 6' 8" 240, he could back into guys for position...and wouldn't be called for those fouls).
NOTE: Remember, he missed all of summer (for International Trip) and Fall Camp of his true Freshmen season because one clown at NCAA Clearinghouse didn't want to approve this 4.0 GPA student for college.
After just his first full off-season, he improved his strength/conditioning by large percentages and will just need to continue to improve this year and next as well.

Good season. Next years team should be better with a full roster. I expect UCF will be back in the post season.

Good catch! (Meant mostly higher profile/higher paying P5's as compared to UCF Hoop Budget)
UCF got Dawkins at a discount price of $1 Million per year...almost a bargain in today's salary escalation contracts.
Compare that to what Memphis is paying for Tubby Smith:
$2.8 Million for 2016-2017
$2.9 Million for 2017-2018
$3.25 Million for 2018-2019 and the remaining 2 years on his 5 year deal (total $15.45 Million for 5 years)
