Interesting to say the least. In principle I like the FC's ideas but in practice they're clueless on how to get there. Why is it assumed by the LP/FC faction that the ACHA was the "final destination"?

Book sense and common sense. Some only have the former or VERY little of the latter.

I think splitting Power Over Ethernet is a bad idea. It will cause a power loss and because you're transmitting so little power over such little copper it could lead to malfunctioning PoE devices. Just get a proper PoE router/switch with enough proper PoE ports.

You'll have to link me to what you are referring, I'm unfortunately a bit buried with other business at the moment.

Ted Poe is no hard liner. So that's not surprising. His most recent Club For Growth scorecard was 76% and his lifetime is 83%. For comparisons sake ... Amash is 97% most recent, 99% lifetime. The Freedom Caucus isn't my favorite ... the Liberty Caucus is. There is broad overlap between the Liberty Caucus and Freedom Caucus ... but the non-overlap tends to be more tweeners like Poe who aren't quite establishment goons but also clearly aren't operating with rigid principles either.

Common sense says we can do MUCH better than the first terrible bill put up.

It's not a choice between taking the **** sandwich offered or nothing at all. There is the third option.

A better bill.

Guess patience is in short supply. Patience and common sense go together.

I live in his district.

His district is a work of gerrymandering, but it, like John Culbertson's Houston area district, is much more vulnerable than one might see at first glance. The minority population is increasing and the white population is higher educated than many Trump districts. It also has a large and growing LGBT population. And its changing rapidly.

First, his district is red, but moved towards the Dems in large ways in 2016. The dynamics of the district are changing. Much of the population growth in his district is in more progressive areas. He hasn't had a well funded opponent yet, but one will be coming in 2018. He will probably hang on in 2018, but he has a bigger problem moving forward. 2020 looks to be a nightmare for him as DJT will be on the ballot. He'll have to support him in the general election or he will be primaried. Then he'll have to face the voters in an election where it will all be about DJT. If he manages to survive all of that, then he MIGHT try to use redistricting to bleach his district, but at some point it becomes difficult to gerrymander when the County moves from +1 Dem to +15 Dem.

It was a tactical move on his part. He's trying to appeal to his less conservative base as he will need them barring a massive change in his district.
