Who makes noise this year?
Football talk.
Last year Houston made noise by defeating two highly ranked P5 teams. Yeah their fans got disappointed in some other games, but Houston grabbed the media's attention.
I have not looked at any other team's schedule, but I know Temple starts out with Notre Dame and with them coming off a losing season, not sure it makes much noise if Temple wins (which may be difficult, but there is always some noise when beating them).
ECU always seems to schedule 2 or 3 teams from the P5 and do well, mostly ACC, but will they play a ranked opponent? Who else in the AAC can make noise this year.
Oh, and I didn't realize till now that Houston comes up to Philly on Sept. 30th right after we play USF.

RE: Who makes noise this year?
Cincinnati has one shot to make noise -- September 9 @ Michigan. The rest of our non-conference schedule is fairly light -- Austin Peay, @ Miami (OH), Marshall.

That may be true for some schools, but having a new coach will pay off immediately at Cincinnati. Tuberville was really that bad. I think 7-8 wins is realistic this season.

Still a down year though. I dont see this conference getting an NY6 bid this year.

USF has enormous talent but their non-conf slate is pretty meh. Their ceiling next year is dependent on the rest of us pulling weight. I think Memphis has a legit shot at winning conference and Navy should be solid as well. Tulsa and UH should have plenty offense but they both have some big holes to fill as well. I expect UCF and Cincy to be better than they were this year. No clue about ECU, Tulane, or UConn. SMU could be real dark horse in the west. I don't know much about Temple's situation but replacing a great coach is never easy. Certainly expect them to win more than they lose but anything beyond that would be surprising.

Pretty much, not to mention the fact USF has never won an fbs championship. On top of that I dont see how UH does better than 8-4 this we may even be a 6-6 team this year.

My expectation next year is 7 wins. However looking at the schedule even that could be difficult because for some reason we have 5 road games in conference. Maybe we'll surprise but right now I think its best to keep expectations low.

RE: Who makes noise this year?
ECU plays WVU and VT in consecutive weeks. Both WVU and VT should be ranked at the time based on preseason polls. We have never won in Morgantown and I doubt very seriously this is the year we do it. We have VT at home so anything can happen but it would definitely be an upset. Our schedule starts off pretty damn brutal with our gimme game being FCS Champ JMU and then VT, WVU and USF for the first month so we most likely start out of the gate 1-3

Good call...we have a special fall troll camp we are both tending. The waiting list was huge, only the best of the best even get on the waiting list. Pony pulled a few strings for us.
Once you attend camp, if you complete the course (95% drop out rate in first week) you gain membership to the prestigous National Association of Trolls (NAT)...Sort of an AAU for trolls.
Gotta run now, lots of practice and hard work ahead of me as I prep for the camp.

USA Today currently has VT at #13 and WVU at #23 in the pre-season rankings. That will all change, but one or both of them could be ranked when we play. Even our FCS opponent is good. JMU won the thing last year.
The timing stinks though. We'll have things back on track right around the time that our OOC slate includes App State and NC State.

If Tulsa beats Ok State in Stillwater opening weekend, the sky's the limit. If not, we at least won't be going to the playoffs.
