Frank has turned into a great coach. Taking K -State and now South Carolina to elite 8's is pretty impressive.AK got all of the pub during the 05-06 season, but Frank has turned out to be the better coach.

Agreed. South Carolina is elite defensively. 4th in adjusted defense (and 121 in adj offense for those who complain about uc on that end).

He is the best from FHOF Coach Huggins coaching tree.

RE: Frank Martin
Very happy for Frank.
Bet he is getting some awesome calamari in NYC.

BTW 3 SEC teams in the EE.
Pretty strong showing for a conference that is called a football first conference.
The SEC might be the best at both (at least this year).

Not even close. Sagarin has the SEC at #5. So does the Colley Ranking. Massey has them at #3.

A few top teams does not make a great conference. You don't hear anyone saying the West Coast Conference is a top-5 conference just because Gonzaga & St. Mary's are both top-25.

A ton of people were skeptical when kansas state hired Martin to replace Huggins. Now he has South Carolina in the final 4. Hell of a coach

SC was a 7 - we were a 6. Does anyone think our roster (I love our guys) can compare? As long as we are on the outside looking in of the P5 conference structure we are in a deep hole.

I wonder what our record would have been in the ACC?

I guess we could look at the bright side - beating wimps got us a higher cede than SC.

If adding Wichita State for BB is an option -do it tomorrow!

I'll have to check the roster of South Carolina. I'd be surprised if the best h.s. players in SC weren't on the roster. Getting the best players of your state helps , it worked in the past for Indiana/Ohio State/Kentucky, etc.

Not as important in BB as in FB, but it definitely helps.

It's on the same website, but it's a computer-based system. It's actually the same computer formula that used to be a part of the BCS formula (although for basketball they might use a different home-field advantage):

Here they are by conference: http://www.masseyratings.com/rate.php?s=...=11590&c=1

Having watched SC a couple times this year, our roster absolutely compares to theirs. They caught lightning in a bottle this month.

Our ACC record would be very good. We went 12-6, 10-8, 11-7 in Big East when it was best conference. We'd be much better if we could play tougher competition every week and not Tulane, ECU, USF.

Thought it was funny when Dan would interview Martin on the scouting report, then request he repeat it in Spanish.
