Jason got good info but that don't mean it wasn't just to stir something up
Here's my problem with putting that out Vinnie, it doesn't help the team while they are in the middle of playing out the season. It's a major distraction and makes it hard to keep everyone on board. I know if a member of the media had did this to Larry, he would have been pissed. He would have cussed the media person out privately. I would assume Dana and Cal wouldn't of liked it happening to them either. Even If Jason knew 100% that Dedric was going to leave, he should have sat on it and kept the info to himself out of respect to the coaches and team.
He did his job

It isn't cool. And like I said Larry would have been pissed and told Jason where he could go.
The whole thing is a shiat storm
Larry wouldn't have have gone on the air to refute it
He would have dealt with the family

This kid would be a good one year piece.
Good size, DI experience, versatile.
And most importantly with grads the connection is there with him being from Memphis.

Tubby could help to prevent this by going on their talk shows every so often. This would be good for their ratings. If someone screws him over with this type of story, he could cut off access. I dont live here, so I dont know what type of interaction he has with the "press", but tbat is the only way that I know for him to try to control what is said. I know Cal & Pastner were on a lot (they might still be on Memphis sports radio more than Tubby) and Norvell seems to do a lot. Tubby needs to promote the program, that is part of the job. Get these guys on his side and make sure they know they will lose their access if they betray him.
Media interaction and program promotion are important duties of coaches in the modern era and I do not see or hear Tubby doing it like Norvell.

The media isn't going to give Tubby any slack.
They eventually turned on Josh, they just started early on Tubby. I don't blame Tubby for not playing a game he can't win. He has 25 years experience with this type of stuff.
Come on guys, you know this time it's different.

Ok. I've watched plenty myself. We are closer than you think. However things have to break our way. It's best to let things play out.

No, I don't have an agenda against Jason Smith. But what I know is Larry. There is absolutely zero chance the Larry I knew very well would not have said something to a media person who said his best player was going pro in the middle of the season and creating division within the team. He would have said something publicly and privately. Hell, I saw him blow a gasket at least three times in the field house to different people that he deemed were causing him a difficult time with his team. I clearly remember him turning to me and saying sorry for his language. I just went to the other end of the gym.

Exactly. It's not the local media's job to "protect the program". Now, that being said...if you're wrong in the end, gotta man up.

I can't believe so much time has been spent talking about Jason being right or wrong.
If Dedric decided to come back to school, a lot of turds on this board would owe an apology.
I could care less about Jason Smith being right or wrong.
A lot of folks have said A LOT of things about the Lawsons in the past couple of months.
However, I think Dedric is gone, not because he's ready, but just because he wants to be.

The Lawsons should have a bit more respect than they are getting shown by the fan base. Those kids have a lot on them. Some of the things said by people here and on Twitter is a bad look for the fan base.
