LaVar Ball Won’t Let His Kids See Their Sick Mother in Hospital
LaVar Ball Won’t Let His Kids See Their Sick Mother in Hospital: Bad For ‘Media Attention’ and ‘Brand Sales’
Quote:Here’s the statement from the anonymous member of the Ball family, via Arm Chair All Americans:
“Also, Tina Ball, his wife had a stroke on Feb 21. She had life threatening skull surgery to relieve brain pressure – guess where Lavar was during the operation that could have killed his wife? – at the CHHS vs. LB Poly game with his sons, including Lonzo. He still has not allowed his kids to see their sick mother due to the media attention it would bring to him, and cause BBB sales to diminish. [Name of hospital] in [City of hospital], CA – Tina is there now and he only visits for 1 hour a few days a week, while her Mother has yet to leave her side. Pathetic!!!”
“Notice, she is not at any games, she is not at work, and she is not at home. Someone needs to ask the question, where is Tina? She is severely disabled and paralyzed on right side. Cannot talk and is questionable about her comprehension. Left side of her brain impacted with massive stroke, while at home on Feb. 21 (school holiday – President’s day)…
“The Ball boys are not allowed to see their mother, Lavar is afraid it will take away from their game(s). Lonzo had big game at ASU and U of A later that week. Also, media buzz would take away from all the interviews and media touring for Lavar + BBB brand would suffer. It literally is bigger than Tina’s life, as evidenced by Lavar’s approach.”

Unsure this is the right board for this but wouldn't avoiding the mother be bad for him and his brand? Specially when he is exposed for being the heartless **** that he is?

I guess she served her purpose as far as Lavar is concerned...breeding stock.
I hope there is more to this story because at face value, Lavar Ball is a class A1 a$$hole as are his kids...
they aren't little kids, if they wanted to visit their mom they could.
If this is true the Ball Boys and their Dad are sorry excuses for human beings.

RE: LaVar Ball Won’t Let His Kids See Their Sick Mother in Hospital
There is one thing that makes me think this is fake news: it's too good to be true. With all of the context and reasons to dislike this guy already out there, this is a massive cherry on top. Every sports source would be tearing down the door to get to this story, yet nobody is putting anything out there or acknowledging the original article. Stephen A would want it. Jason Whitlock would want it. Mina Kimes. Bomani Jones. Anyone on the radio would run with it. Producers would salivate over it.
Let's also look at the writer, or the entire organization. College students. Why would this anonymous source give this information to kids who haven't gotten their first jobs yet? That's once in a lifetime information for a Pulitzer winner, let alone some kid still at UGA.
There are plenty of reasons to dislike the guy. He's the second Trump in sports, but this is as fishy as Pike's market.
I believe that the mother is in the hospital, because it has been said before, but that inside family scoop does NOT go to a rando at an unknown blog.

I agree.
1. The kids are old enough to see their mother with or without the father's permission.
2. Yes, the father seems like a dipschit, but he is around and involved. Less of a dipschit than those who aren't around, or are deadbeats, druggies, or drunks.
3. Even if true, not knowing the family, pretty tough to cast a judgement on how they do business. Kids seem to be pretty focused on what they do and out of trouble. That takes parenting.

RE: LaVar Ball Won’t Let His Kids See Their Sick Mother in Hospital
Quote:LaVar Ball, who opted to stay back in California to tend to his ailing wife instead of going to Memphis to watch his son Lonzo play against Kentucky, told ESPN he is glad Steve Alford is remaining at UCLA to coach his younger sons.
The elder Ball has been tight-lipped about his wife, Tina. However, he told ESPN that she is recovering from a recent medical procedure and that was the reason he didn't travel to Memphis. LaVar did not want to elaborate on the specifics of her condition but said she is improving and that the two younger boys went to see her on Thursday.

So that article comes out (OP) and now he goes to see his wife and let his youngest kids see her.

Not sure if the entire story but this guy is a douche. Said that he could beat Michael Jordan in his prime.

Yep. Lamar's admitted he selected his wife because she was good breeding stock to produce basketball players and that his kids pretty much are allowed only to eat, sleep and breathe basketball. They are still under dad's grip now but Lonzo is reaching the point where he will be on his own. At that point we will see if he can handle life or if he is warped like Todd Marinovich was by Marv. I hope for their sakes their dad has provided them balance and education beyond the hard court.
Marinovich was a prodigy until he got out of school and discipline and has amounted to nothing because he wasn't equipped to handle the world.
