id gladly take another meaningless slap on the wrist from the ncaa in exchange for a final four run

Good for you, that says a lot about you. No worries what the national perception is of my beloved university as long as B and minions like him can have some bragging rights for a year. Now that is forward thinking! Nice! However; it does not surprise me coming from you.

the only national perception of the university there will ever be is if we are making news in athletics.....there aint nobody curing cancer over there

We're about to get the best of both. I believe Coach Tubby, Coach Bam, Coach Pooh and Coach Saul will turn this thing around and do it the right way so nothing is vacated later.
We can keep runs in the NIT?

Which will be impressive here at JUCO-U. Tubby's the ugly kid in class who doesn't date because "I'm just so picky" aka he can't get any. Tubby recruits "players that fit his system" because he doesn't have the game to land big talent.

Interesting analogy. I hope you're wrong (and Tubby succeeds in a big way here), but I tend to think you're right.

The Memphis program should be able to attract a mix of talented 4* and 3* and an occasional 5* without cheating. A roster filled with such talent and adequately coached would have a legitimate opportunity (barring upsets) to earn a S 16 bid and beyond each year.

The infrastructure is in place. All we need is a coach willing and able to fully realize the program's potential.

Until we demonstrate that we can guarantee ncaa post season, we will not attract top talent, unless they are paid, or the recruit is getting bad advice.

Pastner was a great recruiter and he had a pay a dad program going on.

He doesn't need the game to land it here....that's why I was not worried when he landed here.

I don't think he wants that kind of talent--the kind that will question him or get bored. It's harder to handle--it need guys to watch ovah the kids... somehow I can't see Tubby heading to a bar in the early morning hours to get one of our players.

If booing fans are part of the lunatic fringe, what does that make Cal? Up to 2009 we STILL had to listen to him talk about how crappy the gym was at UMass, Lou Roe, Marcus Camby, having the Bulls beaten when he was in New Jersey, and for sale signs in his yard. You hold fans up to some bizarre standard while out of everyone involved, Cal is the lunatic, Cal is the one being petty and childish.

How often has he talked about Memphis in the last 8 years? Does never ring a bell? If people choose to move on, great. I was going to say that if people want to hold a grudge it's ok, but holding a grudge implies that the actions are in the past. Cal still doesn't give Memphis respect and doesn't give his time at Memphis the attention it deserves.

To this day Cal still refers to the sanctions from 2008 as a Memphis problem. Would you be so naïve to suggest that if there were violations that Cal knew nothing about them and didn't have an active role in arranging them?

I certainly hope that no one is a big loser in life incapable of seeing why it is legitimate for fans to want to boo Cal.

I also want to be wrong.

People also tend to think that recruiting hard = cheating. ???? Making calls and visits happen isn't cheating (depending on the time of year blah blah blah). I don't think most of us are wanting him to open his wallet and start buying players (tho some of us aren't against it). He should be able to bring in talent AT MEMPHIS (and KY FWIW).

I guess a raise is a raise whether spread over 24 pay periods or a lump sum in an unmarked envelope

My sister lives in Louisville and is a Kentucky fan. She says he mentions Memphis all the time. But she is a Kentucky fan so there's that. In fact she didn't want him as their coach. I said that'll change once you start winning.

Wonder if he uses the 2008 team as his example to throw in UK players' faces, the way he used to use his UMass team here.
