Hackers threaten to wipe 200 million iCloud accounts unless Apple pays ransom
Its not the Russians...

Quote:HACKERS who claim to have control of at least 200 million iCloud accounts have issued a public demand to Apple: pay ransom or we wipe them all.
The hacking group calling itself the Turkish Crime Family has provided video evidence of its claims to the tech site Motherboard, with a demand to Apple that it pay the ransom or face the consequences.
The hackers have listed the price of the ransom as either US$75,000 ransom in Bitcoin or US$100,000 in iTunes gift cards.
While the demands seem both outlandish and alarming, Motherboard confirms it has seen screenshots of emails appearing to be communications between the hackers and Apple’s security team

They'd make millions by simply selling all of the nude pictures and videos they have access to.

It's Apple's turn now. Now we get to see how "awesome" Apple tech is vs Microsoft.

I am in awe the way Apple has brainwashed people into thinking their products are special and that you don't have to worry about hackers and malicious programs and what not because you've got an Apple. Who needs to be good products when you've got genius marketing?

Indeed. When you had a 5% market share while big bad Microsoft software forced everyone to have the PC Clones (remember when IBM was the big dog?) - the hackers went after Microsoft for a ton of reasons: 1) they had the market share so most hacking targets ran Microsoft, 2) SJW Hacker types loathed the corporate suits of Microsoft so did everything they could to hack Microsoft targets and 3) A general loathing of Bill Gates because he was THE guy in Tech years ago.

No one bothered with Apple products because they were the small fries. NOW...1) Apple is the big whale in the Tech ocean today, 2) Apple is making money hand over fist and 3) Apple is now perceived as the evil corporate suits... Apple will be greatly humbled by these experiences moving forward.

I do own Apple products and enjoy them. However, only for phone and a tablet. All actual computing needs still with Microsoft software machines.

This is why it's stupid to rely on another company to store your data.
