UConn just brought in a Hoss for 2017. One of the most athletic guys in the country. Kwintin Williams. Originally committed to Oregon but went Juco.
He do anything else besides dunking?
The Huskies added another piece to their 2017-18 roster on Sunday when Williams, a 6-foot-7 athletic freak and JUCO transfer, committed to the program. He will be eligible immediately.
“Coach Ollie, when he called me, it wasn’t all about basketball,” Williams said by phone from his home state of Alaska on Sunday. “He was telling me about the UConn family and the relationship me and him would be able to have off the floor as well as on the floor.”
That was good enough for Williams, who had also been in contact with Pittsburgh, TCU, Oregon, Washington State and UNLV, among others, to commit to UConn.
“That led me away from the ACC and the PAC-12,” he said. “I feel like I can come in and have an immediate impact in the American Conference. It’s all about the relationship with a coach, and I feel like that’s the best relationship I had.”
Williams averaged 18 points and 8.3 rebounds per game two years ago at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. He transferred to Arizona Western College last season but didn’t play in order to focus on his academics. It worked: Williams racked up 40 credits and held a 3.2 grade-point average.
Williams was a non-qualifier out of high school who had been recruited by Oregon, among others. He went to prep school for a year but took non-certified classes, causing him to head to junior college.
Sitting out last season not only helped him get straight academically, but also gives him three years of remaining eligibility.

ECU's recruiting strategy of offering all the kids who aren't yet spoken for at the end of the year is a killer. It seems like every year ECU is scrambling to be the last musical chair for the kids still looking.

One of the most important parts of running a D1 program is having a plan. Lebo definitely has a plan. So, he has that going for him.

In past two seasons, Houston has quietly finished 24-12 in AAC RS games. A matter of when, not if, Kelvin Sampson gets Cougars to NCAAs.
