But there are about 50 more that think they will make it. And 50 sets of parents egging them on

Dedric. He's a better player, IMO, and does more things better.

I think Austin is a better post up player, but he certainly won't be able to post up in the NBA.

Dedric is a MUCH better passer and has a better feel for the floor. He played a good deal of "point forward" this year. He's also a better rebounder than Austin. He's not as physical, but just has better instincts and nose for the ball, which is essential in rebounding.

Dedric is further ahead in perimeter shooting, too. Although Dedric's 3pt numbers were bad, his shot wasn't awkward. I don't know if Austin even shoots from beyond 10 feet. He took nine 3pt shots in his Soph season at Memphis.

I made my comment because I think Dedric's "motor" is simply not there. I hope I'm wrong.
I don't think Dedric is a better passer than Austin or rebounder. Yes, Dedric is a better shooter, but his shot is very slow, if that makes sense. Neither is going to be drafted based on their 3 point shooting. Dedric will not be able to defend anyone on the next level. Austin can.
Austin's a better prospect.
They are vastly different players, IMO. That's why they would have benefited GREATLY if they had played together here.

Agreed Austin and Dedric would have complimented each other nicely...Similar to Dedric and Shaq last year.

But the only actual difference between Austin and Dedric right now in my eyes for the NBA is Austin is stronger. Neither have the foot speed to guard any skilled four on the perimeter and both will struggle if they switch a pick.

But Austin may have gotten strong enough to be able to hold his ground in the post but heck even then he is only 6'9 and lacks athleticism. In watching the Tourney I have seen at least 10 Bigs I would take ahead of them in the draft and hell I haven't watched that many games.

But I do need to qualify I am going off the Austin I saw 2 years ago, he could be a totally different player today.

Austin has a higher vertical and is much quicker than Dedric...or he was 2 years ago. Who knows now

I agree he is quicker but not enough to give him the ability to guard away from yhe goalis .

He's just like Dedric. Not a good enough shooter for his height to get drafted
