A couple of years ago I would have told you his size didn't match his skillset, he has the body of a stretch 4 but the skillset of a post player. But from a couple of pics I saw of him from the start of last season before he was kicked off the team at Virginia, it looked like he had put on some weight/muscle in the year he sat out. With that plus the fact that 4s are getting smaller and smaller in the NBA, I could see him making a team. But I doubt a team would use a pic on him. Declaring for the draft and working out for teams may get him some camp invites and an opportunity to make a team as an undrafted free agent, but he will have to really impress someone. If he has worked on extending his range to the three point line that would help.

I think he could be a Jon Leuer journeyman type player if he were to buckle down and work for it.

I think his ceiling had he not had the off the court issues that caused him to lose 2 years would have been something close to David Lee in his prime.

He is a little quicker than Dedric...But physically they are very similar players.

He could make it...Hell who knows what his skillset is now, I know I don't because I haven't seen him play in over 2 years.

so is 90% of the human race

No, no, no. Just no.

Bad for Grizz and worse for Austin. Austin needs to play in Europe or in someplace like Idaho in the G-League for a couple of years. Away from Memphis and his dad and his handlers. Even if we don't want to discuss it here, the NBA knows what happened at Virginia. Austin has zero chance of being drafted. Two years of strong int'l or G-League performance, and not getting into any more trouble, might get him a call up one day.

I don't think he ever plays a second in the NBA, remember, Austin is painfully slow, but that route is his best chance.

I could have sworn this was a Nichols Thread, Einstein. I'm not sure why this board even bothers with threads-same s*** no matter what the thread is.

You just get tired of being wrong all the time due to your lack of subject comprehension.

In your mind you were responding to Bathtub Gin post. But you failed to quote the post and used the pronoun "He". Since you did not quote the previous post, then the use of the pronoun "he" is automatically focused on the subject manner of the thread which is Nichols.

Aah. Nope. You figured it out. So did several others.
There was nothing to figure out. Readily apparent.
You're really stretching.

They aren't.

Pretty ridiculous comparing multiple all-stars like Marc and ZBo to Austin Nichols.

Point was that Austin cannot play stretch 4 in the NBA, because he is slow. And he is nowhere near strong enough to play the traditional 4 like Zach does.

Marc and Zbo have skills-could probably beat Austin 1 on 1 with arm and ankle weights on.

Fsquid, Austin has about as much chance of getting drafted in a 2-round NBA draft as you do.

To have any hope, Austin needs to play well, probably in Europe. Not get injured. And not get into any more trouble. NBA doesn't put up with nonsense from fringe players.

Doofus should be your screen name. What do you contribute to the conversation besides smart azz, critical remarks designed to demean others because of your low self esteem?

At least I contribute facts, good information from others along with Tiger history which for many of you begins with Cal.

I don't think Austin's 'heart' is in to basketball anymore.
No other way to describe that implosion, honestly.

Yet Bias went 2 and Washburn 3. A lot
Of flame outs in that draft went early

I think lower part of that draft went well though

Ok. Just adding my 2 cents, not intentionally combative.

Austin chances are better than Dedrick's. I think. Austin would have been an all american had he played this year.

Dedric's are better because of outside shot and better rebounder-Nichols has him about every where else. I think if Dedric worked on rebounding and returned next year, he could average 15 a game but he will want to sit on wing.
