The walk-on Peterson was his class valedictorian. That's pretty cool!

Pretty impressive recruiting class. Did not realize Green was a DivII NJCAA all American.

Ellison is a gamble that is almost certain to produce something- I mean what exactly were other schools hesitant about??

All the freshmen guards will see some action in my opinion by the time conference play begins I hope one or two will ready to play green comes in with more creditenals than Nazionne did coming out of juco I would be pleased if green produces as much at this level

So now we have presumably a complete roster.

I assume Murphy will keep one scholarship in his back pocket.

I have no idea if there is any chance Epps could still come aboard.

BTW, I don't see Groce on the roster. I don't know if that is an oversight or if he has requirements or something else to complete. Ty is listed on the press release showing newcomers.
IMO Groce is about 6'6", not 6'8". I think most college players fudge their height just a bit. I also think Thompson is shorter than his listed 6'10".

That likely means that he's got a nice acedemic scholarship. Great for the kid.

This is a very solid recruiting class. Personnel wise, I believe this team should finish in the top four overall. We needed one experienced 2G to go along with Paul Jackson so we will need the freshman to step up.

I've seen in person McaDoo and Groce play in highschool. They should be able to contribute right away. I've seen Ellison on TV and he looks impressive! He must be a great leader to position his team to win three state championships. Tariq Silver has nice highlights too but is an unknown to me.

Good job, Murphy!

From what I've heard the number one ingredient missing from this team the last few years is leadership. I've also heard that Paul Jackson fits nicely into that role.

I like the local flavor of this class. If nothing else it will boost attendance.

Ray Lee working out for Pistons today. I would think very slim chance that he gets drafted late, best case would be a summer league invite.

I agree on leadership.

Normally a team with JT4, Bond, etc. should be long on leadership but apparently not...

Good info on Paul Jackson.

Freep is reporting we're playing Oakland in a home-and-home this season. At the Convo on December 6th, then at Oakland December 22nd.

Murphy mentioned his willingness to do this in the press conference at UDM last season. Looks like it worked out.

I like it! I'm guessing we play UofD this year as well, at the convo. We should be playing both schools every year. Makes too much sense for all parties involved.

Why this makes SO MUCH SENSE.

If we play home and home with Vermont or a team from Florida, we keep the revenues from our home game but incur significant travel costs for the return game (like how much will it cost us to go to Long Beach State this year? Not cheap).

The Oakland series is financially like playing a NAIA team. Costs are minimal for both games.

Also the Dec 22 is a local game right after finals and before Christmas.

I love it! I hate Oakland!! This is a must win for recruiting the metro Detroit area.

Good for him. I am huge fan of Ray Lee's basketball abilities, but it is very select few that can make it to the NBA. And I agree best case would be a summer league invite. But who knows, maybe in another environment he will shine...

Yeah, he still has shots at NBA D league or Europe.

Not EMU or MAC-related but interesting to the MBB landscape:

Sounds like Blake Brown transferred to Rochester College. Best of luck to him. Hard working young man.

He was a walk-on at EMU. Hopes he is on scholarship at RC.

Agree he worked hard. Best wishes to him. I don't know if RC is on our schedule, but I hope JT4 goes easy on him. Lol.

Woah!!! Bad news, but big news. Thanks for sharing.

I am guessing 6-7 Greene will play a short but athletic center position as backup. EagleSam was speculating he would play center as it was. So big loss, but not disastrous.

Interesting that the great John Bowler made this announcement. Wish him well.

And wish Baylee Steele best of luck too!
