Love to have them in Memphis

I was listening to Pat Forde on the radio today and he basically said that the combination of his "prickly" personality and his wife's behavior has kept him from landing a primetime job. First I've heard of that.

I find that really hard to believe. That either of those things would keep a prime coaching candidate from prime jobs. Schools turn a blind eye to all kinds of S**t to get their man.

Either one or the other...probably not. Both together...maybe it gives you a reason not to pull the trigger.

I imagine things like the wife's antics are a bigger deal in the current days of social media...as opposed to 10 years ago.

Probably all the above PLUS the price tag.

Texas and Alabama both made runs at him. My understanding was he walked away from both. If by, "prickly personality" he means that Marshall wants total control of budget, scheduling, staff, capex - then he's probably right. Otherwise, doubtful.

Must be a coaching issue. That is what we heard when the Tigers failed to execute.

Both football schools where men's basketball is on par with gymnastics.

I'd rather fail to execute as a 30 win conference champion in the final seconds of a one possession NCAA tourney game against a 2 seed 30 win blue blood than fail to execute in a 40 point regular season drubbing by SMU or NCAA tourney double digit curb stomp that Pastner patented.

Any other questions/remarks?

So you agree it's poor coaching. NEXT.

It's not poor coaching when it's a singular instance, especially given the talent disparity...that's like saying the Utah Jazz failed to execute against Michael Jordan.

It is poor coaching when the failure to execute becomes constant - i.e. a blowout when the talent gap is not indicative of the score.

That's one way to look. Another is 2 of the largest budgets in the nation, in a big down cycle, with a chance to really build something. Otherwise, you're waiting to take a chance at a blueblood that doesn't come up very often - though there is one right now.

But that's not the point. The point is, those are perceived as big opportunities that Marshall had - contrary to what Forde is saying now.

IMO, AL basketball is not a 'big opportunity'.

You should really cut back on the NEXT and RRR stuff, it's getting pretty old. And while your at it, invest in some Crest Whitening Strips. Your teeth are a sight to behold.

'Great Opportunity' at neither. AL a football school in a football conference. Memphis, well we all know.

FYI, Coach took the blame for calling a play that didn't work. Our Freshman PG spoke over him and said that Coach called a good play, he just didn't execute it well enough.

They left it all on the court and walked off with no finger pointing.
