Agreed ... but now you're causing the same football vs basketball struggle that sunk the original Big East.

Thinking the big football programs in AAC don't want more than one non-G5 established football school invited.

That seems to be what Aresco is implying.

How Big of a majority is needed to approve expansion in the AAC? If it is low, then Wichita State is in safely. If it's closer to 3/4ths of a majority, then the Florida schools and East Carolina aren't going to be in favor of Wichita State unless they agree to start football.

I don't see why ECU or anyone else would want them to bring football. We already have 12 FB schools with Navy. This would balance out the basketball side of things. In fact, I think we'd probably rather they NOT start football.

Why would they want them to start football?

Think Wichita State would pull a Liberty and start football without an FBS invite. If it progresses satisfactorily for an AAC invite if AAC teams get P5 invites, that will happen, but a newby FBS team wont. The Shockers long to be an FBS team and get more students out of Texas to enlarge their enrollment.

The Shockers are good at other sports too, like baseball and vb, so they are not going to drag down the AAC olympic sports.

The "Add Wichita St yesterday" crowd doesn't want to hear that. They want you to kiss their fanny and tell them how smart and forward thinking they are.

- AAC is trying to upgrade bball to, at least in part, appeal to UConn
- UConn is against adding yet another team that it's fans don't know and won't buy tickets to see play

??

Neither. If billybobby is talking about me, then he's got it all wrong. I want no part of Wichita St because they're another mouth to feed off of the pittance we get currently. They add zero dollars to a future TV contract, and the tourney credits constantly bandied about? Well I think this years run proves my point quite nicely, thank you.

They bite the bullet and go Indy in football and join Big East in all sports.

That then prompts AAC to add Dayton and VCU.

Just stop posting about UCONN. It's clear you know less than nothing about anything that goes on here in CT.

In UConn is pushing it they are a yes
If UConn is a yes so is Temple.
Tulsa could probably go for a regional rival so I'm going to say they are a yes.
SMU and Houston have had good basketball lately so perhaps they too would back a pro basketball move.
Cincy and Memphis are probably also going to be in favor of a basketball move that keeps the conference together. I'm not positive how Cincy feels about Dayton though.
I'm not sure how schools who don't emphasize basketball--would feel: Tulane, UCF, USF, ECU

To me if you are trying to build up American basketball to try and be on par with the Big East you are going to need Dayton and VCU too.

If UConn, Temple, and Memphis regain their historical form. Cincinnati maintain their level and either SMU continues on their trajectory post Larry Brown or either Houston or UCF get a step better, the AAC is already on a par with the Big East. Adding one bball only team makes sense, adding three seems like overkill.
