RE: Looking Ahead to Next Year
Tooooooooo many moving parts and parts not fitting in place to even think about a starting line up right now. But if Id have to just go off the roster we have right now Id have to go with:

SG CJ Burks
SG Rondale Watson
PG Jon Elmore
SF Terrence Thompson
PF Ajdin Penava/Jannson Williams

Move Thompson from PF into SF to take over for Ryan Taylor and insert Penava or RS freshman Williams into the PF position.

2017 Marshall PG signee Jarrod West just lead his team to a single A State title yesterday. In 3 games during the state tourney he had 80 points, 24 rebounds, 24 assts, 18 steals and only 4 turnovers.

Jarrod West Stats
#8 Seed Gilmer County - 16 Points, 7 Rebounds, 9 Assts, Steals 5, Turnovers 3
#1 Seed Wheeling Central - 35 Points, 9 Rebounds, 9 Assts, Steals 5, Trunovers 1
#2 Seed Ravenswood - 29 Points, 8 Rebounds, 6 Assts, Steals 8, Turnovers 0
Three game total - 80 Points, 24 Rebounds, 24 Assts, 18 Steals, 4 Turnovers

Notre Dame who West plays for was the #4 Seed in the tourney.

Marshall also has 6'8 PF/SF Tanner Robbinette and 6'10 C Iran (E-ran) Bennett coming in. Robinette will most likely have to set a year and the NCAA has yet to rule on Bennett. Bennett has a 24 on his ACT and carries a 3.6 at Hargrave but he went to a school that is now closed and AW Hamilton the coach at Hargrave, Dan and the Marshall staff have yet to be able to secure his trans. there.

Dan is also looking at bringing in a grad transfer or two.

Returning we have:

Justin Johnson 6'7" Sr
Jabari McGhee 6'7" Jr
Damari Parris 6'0" So
TJ Howard 6'2" So

Incoming:

Lamonte Bearden 6'3" Jr Point Guard (Buffalo transfer. Former 4*)
Moustapha Diagne 6'9" So Center (Former 4* Syracuse commit, had to go Juco for grades)
Robinson Idehen 6'9" Fr Forward (3-star, had to sit out for academic reasons and enroll in community college this past year)
Taveion Hollingsworth 6'3 Fr Guard (3-star and Kentucky Mr Basketball)
Josh Anderson 6'4" Fr Guard (4-star ranked #43 nationally)
Mitchell Robinson 7'0" Fr Center (5-star and #6 nationally)

Plus whomever we sign in the spring signing period. I expect a Juco guard, 1 more freshman, and a grad transfer. There should be some excellent basketball in CUSA next season. If MTSU can keep it up and WKU gets their crap together again. Then we could have multiple bids from CUSA next season.

To do that its clear either one of us has to go 31-3 with 3 or 4 top 50 wins to get an at large and lose in finals to the other team to get 2 bids......

Way too early though for what's coming back thread, we need to at least wait until the dust clears on grad transfers as I am sure some of us will lose guys to power teams...Also we need to see what pieces we all add in the Spring....At this time last season we were close to having zero guards and completely added our team together not until end of May and even later when Pancake joined...Also the coaching carousel has not stopped yet..

In spring we need to add 2 or 3 shooters and a grad transfer who can knock down threes...

YG....no one has said WKU is dominating the conference, where have you read that on here?....Most are excited to have a 15th ranked recruiting class coming in, not in CUSA but the nation...What was North Texas recruiting class ranked nationally? I seriously doubt 15th.....

Cannot compare football to basketball....Talent matters a lot more when you have 5 players on the court vs. 11 on the field....Serious talent and a once in a decade player for us can make a huge difference in a league like this in basketball....Football does not show as much individual talent....I am not saying we will just roll over the conference, but unreal talent on paper can translate to a lot of wins in this conference....Your rants about Stans never mention he was coaching in the SEC when the SEC was a legit basketball conference, he also could have had a lot more talent at MISS. ST if not for the NBA rule back then where high school guys went straight to the league....WKU fans are just sick of you taking shots at Stans while you sat here last 4 years sucking Harper's ass and never saying a negative word about the guy, most can see your posts on know what your agenda is...

Again a fool trying to read something that was not there...

Come on you and I both know what you and others say on other boards. Roll out the balls is all coach Stansbury needs to do. As for Harper I question coaching moves many times. I will give you the same option I gave the other two Western fans....

show me were I hammered coach Stansbury? You can't. The only thing I ever said was he was not a good bench coach...nothing else. To go along with that I questioned maybe twice but no more than three times why he would not sit a player who was not giving any effort on defense.

If that's hammering...then I did it.

Doesn't matter if it's football or basketball no one is comparing the sports. I honestly don't know how you would come up with that. It's the bragging part about recruiting and how that means domination.

Don't care what UNT's class was ranked. How is that important? They had a top 25 player and a couple top 100 which are 4 star players and a few high rated 3 stars. The UNT fans acted just like a few of you Western fans...

Roll out the ball and win. Coaching Matters.

Now go find me those post with me hammering coach Stansbury? You can't and we both know it. But one thing is for sure....

Harper is still on your mind and even if he hasn't coached at Western in a year. You still find ways to bring up his name all negative. Not tell me how many good coaching moves did you see in a Western game this past season? Any? So if I'm wrong about Coach Stansbury's bench coaching...

point out to me what he's done to make you think he's a good coach? Start with this past season and go from there. I base my opinion off fact. You?

YOu keep on bringing up him not getting past the NCAA tournament 2nd round...Hell if we win a game in NCAA tournament I would be ecstatic at this point...You act like that is the worst coach in the world for not going past 2nd round at a school with zero basketball history prior in what was a very good SEC conference....YOu have taken your passive aggressive shots Day 1 when he was hired....Meanwhile Harper's continued roster misses, retention, lack of recruiting, RPI's plus 150 brought hardly any remarks from you.........

YOu are the one comparing our recruiting class to football, how is basketball anywhere close to football?..ONe great player with a ton of talent can make a huge difference in basketball, not so much in football....HOw does this compare to getting on Marshall fans bragging about guys that didn't even end up eligible to play....

North Texas class did not include Tony MItchell since he originally committed to MIssouri and they were not even ranked in top 100 nationally, how is this the same? I think its in every WKU fans right to be a tad excited when we see our name on every website, show, etc even on ESPN when it comes to basketball rankings....Plus we have 3 guys not even counted in or 15th ranked class with 2 being 4 stars and 1 3 star, if they counted transfers might be a top 10 class...So your comparison to North Texas and their recruiting makes no sense...Only comparison is CUSA with Memphis and they dominated...Now I am not saying we are going to dominate like Memphis but its a good start recruiting wise if Stans is able to recruit like this or even remotely close every season...

RE: Looking Ahead to Next Year
Please ignore dumbguns. He has had this mantra before we hired stansbury. I would have understood if he waited till after seeing some basketball. (Even if he had a month to recruit for a team with zero guards) but since you are the magic spreadsheet guy please post every time he lost in the tourney and who it was too and what seeds they were. I've told everyone close to me, if we don't win next year then we can start to worry but come on dude. Stop typing and trying to be the loudmouth you ever so love to be. I have agreed with you on a lot of things in the past but quit being a dick when trying to get your point across.

RE: Looking Ahead to Next Year
ODU lineup is definitely up in the air as to how Jeff will send them out there but only losing losing Baker who is a "great defender" and Taylor will make us markedly better on the offensive side. It will be interesting to see if Talley continues to come off the bench or not, as I'm not sure JJ will trust to start a redshirt freshman at the two or not.

Good news is that we have shooters coming in which as everyone knows our biggest need.

Michael Hueitt Jr.
Marquis Godwin

And Xavier Green who redshirted this year looks very promising by all accounts and could possibly start at the 2 and be our back up to Caver.

My Way-too-early-predition would be:

Caver - PG
Xavier Green - SG
BJ Stith/Talley - SF
Brandan Stith/Talley - PF
BS/Porter - C (Porter likely to come off the bench for medical reasons)

All Reserves return, hopefully with an additional big man looking like the remaining possibilities are either Alex Yetna or De'Quon Lake. Would be nice to see Jones recruit a freshman big like Yetna, but we will see.

LOL! This is like arguing with a four year old. These are the greatest back to back sentences you've written. If you can't see the passive aggressive shots in your own posts then you need some help. Enjoy being a genius in your own mind. I'm done here.

Truth be told, Stans has never been lauded as a great Xs and Os or floor coach. But he has always been a great recruiter. However, that's not to say he can't change his stripes.

Definitely believable. I think Henson is a great coach.

Rumored home games:

Ehsan said in a recent interview we're close to signing a home & home with a P5 that would start on the road. Also said we're working on scheduling a P5 at the BJCC in a double header the same day Auburn plays MTSU there.
