Johnny B Goode
The legend has pasted. I can remember standing next to him at the Fillmore in San Francisco in 69. He was a straight up guy. We're both watching Steve Miller Band. They were backing him that night.

My dad had a lot of his records and I would play them a lot.

I was one year(s) old when you were standing next to a rock-n-roll legend. Very cool.

Legend. His songs were covered by Elvis, the Beatles, the Stones, the Boss, Bowie, Hendrix, the Band, MC5 and many other greats. He was one of the cornerstones of what we now call Rock n Roll.

True giant of rock and roll. I can only think of one of the early pioneers who is now still living - Fats Domino.

Don't forget the "last man standing" from the Million Dollar Quartet.

Due to being burned early on in his career, and occasional run-ins with the IRS, Chuck always got paid in cash. A notable occasion in Australia 1975 saw Berry caught at Sydney Airport with $50,000 in an attaché case. There remains currency restrictions today due to this famous incident.

Saw his home place in north St. Louis and his statue at The Loop there. All my trips to St. Louis over the years, just found out a few years ago that he's from there.
