LMAO.

I've been ridiculously busy at work today but my goodness this thread provided the comedic relief I desperately needed.

Watched most of the game. Looked strikingly familiar...

Congratulations to Coach keatts.

RE: Keatts to NC State
I care. I care a lot. Keatts provided a winning template for UNCW and is proving it is a winning template at NCSU. Only the second regular season win over a top 10 OOC team in the history of NCSU basketball.

Keatts dictates how a game will be played and his players buy in. He has practically the exact same roster that was mediocre last year and just took out the #2 ranked team in the nation. Overachieving same as he did with UNCW his first year here.

I hope McGrath keeps UNCW as a CAA leading squad. Losing a recruiting class along with transfers was a huge blow, but the cupboard isn't bare. I do not expect the same level of success this year because of that. I also hope McGrath realizes he has a roster full of players who know the Keatts system, and that he at least considers implementing the style of press used by Keatts. Roy had a style that worked with the best players in the country available. UNCW isn't Kansas or UNC, we don't have that luxury. And, we don't have the stable of big men this year to play that style.

But, having seen the style of play Keatts brought to UNCW with great success, I hope it isn't forgotten should we find ourselves searching for another coach in the future. There will be a Keatts "coaching tree" as well as the Pitino coaching tree in that event. And I would hope we have a good memory and realize that style allows for success even if we don't have a roster of four and five star players.

THAT is the reason to "care" and at least follow the success of NC State right now. Honestly, I'm hoping we go 10+ years before we are searching for a coach again though. Due to our standing in the Mid-Majors though, it's far more likely that our coaching door swings with the winds. If we have great success, our coach gets poached. If we lose constantly again like last decade, we are left in that nasty coaching carousel that no program wants to be in. Getting back to the point though, 82's last statement there is WHY we need to follow and root for Keatt's success, as painful right now as it may be. That pain will eventually subside, and the benefits far out-weigh the negatives in terms of UNCW keeping a positive working relationship with Keatts, so as to tap into that coaching tree eventually. It was a system that worked immediately, and even better... consistently. He's proving it now on the bigger stage.

Root for our success NOW, but always keep an ear to the ground and be ready. If it's one thing we've learned as Seahawk fans is that change happens, and it happens fast. Always be prepared and don't be caught with your pants around your ankles. Maintain the program's success with heads on a swivel and situational awareness at all times.

RE: Keatts to NC State
The coaching staff you had in the past has nothing to do with the staff you may have in the future. Keatts had no UNCW connections, McGrath had no UNCW connections. So this "coaching tree" you speak of will most likely have no bearing on the future of our team. Keatts won in our league and when we needed him to coach us to a victory in the 1st round, he couldn't see past his stubbornness to change things up to get past the first round. Don't get me wrong, he did a great job competing against our level of opponents, but failed to get us past the first round. Maybe my glass is half empty, but I'm simply stating my opinion.

Just wait until State runs him off because he still can't beat UNC or Duke. As i stated before I'd much more apt to root for his succuess until he decided it was a good idea to steal the best player from the school that gave him his coaching start. F Keatts!

My opinion remains solid that as soon as Keatts announced he was leaving Bryce wasn't staying. I hoped he would, but it became clear he was gone and it's obvious to most that he almost signed with South Carolina. So, sure... you could ostensibly blame that on Keatts, but I don't believe Bryce was gonna be here this year even if he didn't go to NC State. Not to mention, part of that is on the AD for allowing that transfer, but again... it goes back to not burning bridges with a potential successful coaching tree.

You're opinion is always welcome. Don't confuse disagreement with personal vilification.

If he had gone to SC i would have wished them both well, but he didn't. Given he's in the slime ball Pitino tree, it wouldn't surprise me if that was all a front honestly. Not buying it. There is a special place in my heart for selfish $astrads like that!

LOL. I know I know. Trust me, I'm not trying to sway your opinion of either. That's far too tall of a task for the likes of me!

RE: Keatts to NC State
I wish Kevin nothing but success. He spent a great deal of his career coaching at the top HS level and has paid his dues to get where he is. He left UNCW in a great position, so it is on us to keep it going. No reason to burn any bridges.

The final three of McGrath, Dooley and Pasternack is far superior to any choices we had in past searches. That alone makes the Keatts years worthwhile, beyond the wild ride of fun and success, and the income created by that success.

We're at a different level now Seahawk fans.

Yeah, taking our best player and all conference first teamer is certainly "leaving us in "great" position" SMH

I certainly do appreciate his time here, i do not appreciate his parting shots.

I missed the "kidnapping" where our "best player" was forced to leave against his will.

Also, C.B was in the running for a coach the last time around too.

You have to be Naive to think Keatts wasn't in his ear. in my best Chris Carter voice, Come on man!
