Seems surprising that Lawry is not one of the captains.

Has the media around spring camp been quiet this year? Little over 1/3 of the way through spring camp. It seems like there is a lack of information coming out of camp this year. odusports write ups have not been detailed and the pilot doesn't post every practice like years past

I think the failing VP no longer has the bandwidth to cover it.

We were on the OBX this past weekend, and one of the Norfolk stations did a nice bit on the LaRussa/Arnold competition.

I've been the biggest LaRussa supporter on the board. I've watched the kid play since middle school. I know he can compete and have success vs CUSA teams but teams like UNC and VT I'm not so sure of.
With 3 QBs this summer with the ability to move around and throw its going to be a great QB competition!
If BL wins the job I see his style of play mirroring Thomas DeMarrco with a little of TH in it. The kid has no probably running straight up the middle when asked to.

I also have been very impressed with BL. His throwing motion is very reminiscent of TH, and he moves well.
For those of you who cringe at his size, or lack thereof, I understand. However, the only starting QB we have ever had with any size was DW.
DeMarco, Heinicke, Bentley; and either LaRussa or Arnold, are all all in the 6' and under club.
Manziel, Russel Wilson, and others; as well as TH and DeMarco, have made it to the next level in some capacity.
I think the key for smaller QBs is mobility, and certainly BL and DA have plenty of that.
I think we will be just fine.

I sincerely hope BL is as good as advertised. I just see a lot of tipped passes and I worry about his durability. If Hoy wins the job, he'll have to be pretty good I guess.

I've known Blake and his family for a while. Blake is a GREAT kid with a ton of leadership qualities. I hope he can get it done for ODU. He has gotten better every year as he has progressed through the ranks. Whitcomb absolutely loves the kid.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but that is pretty much what we heard about SB. Coaches loved him. We really need BL to be not just good, but very good. We have a rough schedule and UNC and VT will show us how far off the pace we really are.

I liked Arnold's arm strength way more than LaRussa. And my money's on Hoy, with the kid from DC the following year.

There is a lot to be excited about in Hoy. Although not really big, he is still a little bigger than the rest, but more importantly he is stronger, quicker, and faster(per Hudl).
His 39" vertical jump (10 inches better than Arnold and LaRussa) is a good indicator of general athleticism.
Height & Weight: 6'1" 195lbs
40 Yard Dash: 4.52
Shuttle: 4.05
Vertical: 39
Bench: 265
100 Meter Dash: 10.9
We have never had a QB that could run vertically like this guy, but more importantly he throws smartly. I was watching his highlights (admittedly those are always the best available) and I love the way he throws his passes such that only his receivers can get them, especially in the end zone.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Either way, BL seems to have something special. It should be intersting!

This is where I'm putting my money. If BL winds up being a back up, that'll mean we got a pretty good QB in Hoy.

Coming down to the guy in the system for two years or the pure athlete. Once Bobby gets behind him, it's his. Right now BL has the head start, can he be caught.

Yeah, keeping in mind that though the HUDL numbers can be inaccurate (they essentially test themselves) and/or exaggerated, they usually are not that far off so that there isn't a misrepresentation issue at workouts and tryouts.
If the numbers are even remotely close, Hoy easily would have been at or near the top of a number of categories at the 2017 NFL combine.
