The third base umpire was ready to make a call at second, the home plate umpire was right there at third in case of an overthrow and the first base umpire, after making sure first base was tagged, rotated home just in case.

We can, and do, complain about umpires. But that was perfect mechanics. If the Sun Belt didn't have a four man crew, the umpire wouldn't have been in position to make the call. THAT'S why you use four umpires if you're a real league.

I'm amazed at how much better App has gotten. There's not a lot of pitching depth, it seems, but the guys we saw were solid. App doesn't hit for a high average but their guys swing hard and have good power. Defense was rock solid all weekend. You can tell from the body language it's a different culture. Props to coach Smith and his staff. They're doing it the right way. And, that will make everyone better.

If you can pitch and play defense, you have a chance to win every night. Underestimate the Mountaineers at your own peril.

To any of you who made the trip from Boone, we hope you'll come back. Pardon our progress on the stadium. Paid attendance for the weekend was 14,857.

We hope fans from South Alabama, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Texas State will make the trip to Lafayette. There are inconveniences because of construction, but once you get in the stadium, you'll enjoy yourselves.

Drove by y'alls stadium on the way back from New Orleans. When is the construction going to be finished?

Right around the end of the season. The biggest things to get done are the second (club) level, the third (suite/press box) level and the bricking of the outside.

I'm hoping we can be fully functional for our last two home series against Texas State and Georgia Southern. It'll be close.

Congrats of the weekend ULL, great team.

Not according to the people I've talked to with direct access to the team. They believe it was a catch. Doesn't matter now, but I couldn't let that false report slide.

Either way we're playing much better than anyone expected, and the future looks very promising for Kermit and the Apps.

It will be ready to host the regional.

Don't look at us. Our series is Easter Weekend. Not exactly a traveling weekend.

We do get the honor of becoming the first Sun Belt team to get eviscerated err...visit Myrtle Beach for a conference series this weekend.

Look....we know what we were told.....you played very well and lost the series but now you are inferring that we are lying. We were told exactly what has been stated, the umpire made his call. That's it.

Really fun series with Coastal this weekend.

Really high quality college baseball played by both teams for most of the weekend. All 3 games were back and forth, edge of your seat, affairs. Really fun series to attend.

And I know what I was told. The call is all that matters, but I think someone gave you bad info.

Repeating what you were told (first hand or fifth hand) isn't lying, no one doubts you truly believe it, but it could it still could be false.

Highly unlikely the player told someone affiliated with ULL it wasn't a catch which somehow made it to this message board while continuing to represent to App affiliates that it was a catch.

But hey doesn't matter, congrats on the win. Hope we see you guys in the tournament.

As a stAte fan we don't get along all that well with La. We also rub shoulders the wrong way with App. All along I thought it might us but now I see clearly you can't get along with anyone. Cajuns and hill billies....should have known.05-stirthepot

Just curious. Is that a gumbo pot your little man is stirring, and if so, did he make his roux from scratch? 03-wink

Once an old roommate of mine was trying his hand at gumbo and, when reading the recipe, he looked up and asked "Rux, what's a rux???" (pronounced it like that)

I gave him **** for a week. He was a terrible cook.

Cajun Fans have the ability to make opposing baseball players reveal their deepest, darkest secrets. It wouldn't shock me if App's left fielder admitted he trapped the ball under the sweet smelling allure of a pot of gumbo dashed with just a hint of bourbon.

Make that smothered squirrel in a cast iron pot and we're fishing in the same water hole (or tree as the case may be). 03-wink
