Good job by the Men's Wrestling Team as well
Looks like the Wrestling team has performed at the NCAA's as well. 5 guys made it to the next day to try to become All-Americans. Hopefully 1 or 2 of them will succeed. There are 5 still shooting for it. Good Luck Huskies. This is the first time in school history that 5 wrestlers made it to day 2.
6 was the most that qualified to go to the NCAA's in 1985.

So hard to get results from the NCAA site. I try the live stats and get nothing. Thank goodness for NIU wrestling on FaceBook.
125 & 149 win first match of day 2. I assume 165 should start shortly. Wish I could get more info.

Isn't the event being covered by ESPN3? They might do a better job of reviewing the results/showing the updated brackets, etc

Hudkins, Bleise, and Scott are all one win away from All-American Honors. All three wrestle at 7pm central tonight. Its live on ESPN but that will most likely be only the semi-final bouts. Watch our Huskies on ESPN 3 and they show each mat going live. Big round for these 3. This is what you wrestle for. All-American Honors!! Good Luck Boys......

Hudkins went down to the #8 ranked kid from Oklahoma State 7-5. Hudkins is a true freshman and comes one win short of All American honors. Kids a stud!! This is the 125 pounds weight class.
Bleise up next for us at 149

bummer....all 3 went down by close matches in the "blood round" Great season. Curious to see the team score. Could be one of the best point totals in Huskie history at the NCAA tournament

Huskies finish with a school record 11.5 points. Our previous high was 9.
Through Friday we are in 30th place. Other MAC schools, Missouri is 4th and CMU is 19th.
Buffalo, Ohio, and Kent State all have points, but, are further down the list.

RE: Good job by the Men's Wrestling Team as well
Followed the event fairly closely. Nice to see NIU do better than normal, but as a whole I'm somewhat disappointed in the program. My family and friends follow D1 wrestling pretty consistently, mostly the Big 10, but we still check in on our alma mater, and NIU has no reason to have not had an all American in almost 15 years.
Illinois is a top 5 state in terms of high school wrestling and recruits. Yes, the Big 10 eats away at a lot of recruits, but still more than enough to stay and go to NIU. There are only 77 D1 wrestling schools, no reason NIU shouldn't be a top 20-25 team almost every year. Schools like SDSU, Campbell, and others are getting All americans. Would love to see NIU get one yearly and win more individual MAC titles. The MAC is arguably in that 2-4 range as best conference after the Big 10, so there is competition and NIU should be a leader with UNI and Mizzou.
Happy to see the progress, but wanting to see some prizes in the near future.
