Baseball begins conference season
Maybe they'll use this as a new beginning and play a lot better. Does ODU have any national championships in baseball? We're 5-6 against teams with at least one NCAA title in baseball and 1-7 against teams without any NCAA baseball titles.

There are schedule changes in this weekend's series due to weather concerns. We're now playing a doubleheader today (1 and 5 pm) and a single game Saturday at 5 pm. No game Sunday. Weather should be cool and chilly, and perhaps a little wet at times.

Our game notes indicate Matt Canterino and Zach Esquivel will start today's games, and Dane Myers will go tomorrow.

This is our second season. Post season play is the third. But to get to the third, we must succeed in the second.

To get to the post-season and keep our streak of 22 seasons alive, we MUST win the conference tournament. At this point, that is our only path (unless we go on a 30-game win streak). Seriously, that's the current reality.

Can we get in as regular season champs if we fail in the conference tournament?

Highly unlikely, as our RPI will almost assuredly be outside the Top 40.

Tend to agree with Walt here. Post-season looks like a long-shot barring a massive winning streak (which is also a long-shot) or winning the tourney.

So, Owls notwithstanding, this has been an exceptionally strong year for CUSA in out-of-conference. I could be wrong wrt RPI implications, but CUSA was in the top-tier of conferences last year and looks poised to be there again this year, and possibly even stronger.
I don't see any way that a regular season CUSA champ doesn't earn an at-large NCAA bid.

Other side of that is that from what we've seen so far, this year's squad does seem better positioned to win the tourney (capable of several strong performances in a weekend) than win the regular season (with sustained consistency).

We will need to raise our game to even contend in the regular season race. If we can do that... then winning the CUSA tourney will feel like a goal well within reach.

So... by no means are we out of it... but I think it's obvious there's much work to be done to turn the corner.

That's actually bad for us in the short term, assuming he'll have to recuse himself from any vote on us getting an at-large.

Normally, teams 10 games below .500 don't get consideration for at large bids.

We need to finish 8th or better to even make the tourney.

I have not been actively following this year. Looks like the wheels have officially fallen off of the old jalopy. Any insights into what the root cause(s) are? Dare I ask about coaching?

Wheels have been wobbling for quite some time. Can't insinuate coaching is the issue or you will be tarred and feathered. Graham is god and his followers are almost cult like in nature. Keep them away from any Coolaid containers.01-wingedeagle

No problem. Only the misspelled packets are dangerous.
