The guide later vaguely proscribes the use of “words with negative connotations, such as stricken or victim,” adding that the term “reported” should be used when discussing cases of sexual assault instead of “accused, claimed, and alleged,” because the latter three “convey bias and disbelief.”

I seem to recall someone on this board going to great length to explain the difference between homosexual and gay.

Now a college seems to be implying that there is no difference and that gay is the preferential term, while homosexual is pejorative.

I'd swear these people must get together every year at a Conference at the Marriott to discuss new rules and regulations.

I wonder if they offer CLE's for that.

I get what they're trying to do.

To use the term 'homosexual' to describe a Gay marriage is wrong, and is sometimes done deliberately by anti-Gays to deny the existence of a Gay community.

But....

Homosexual and Heterosexual are clinical terms used to describe sexual acts or orientation. I personally use both.

It is offputting to call a Gay person homosexual unless that person rejects being Gay. Or rejects membership in the Gay community via his/her actions and associations.
