Basketball Units current 6 year period
Looking at what our active members have earned during the 6 year period
1. UConn 13
2. UC 10
3. Temple 6
3. Memphis 6
5. USF 3
6. Tulsa 2
7. SMU 1
Houston, Tulane,ECU and UCF 0

Since each unit is worth around 250k. The league would earn 10.25 million or 932k per team yearly.

Wichita State 14 units
VCU 13 units
Dayton 8 units.

Adding all three would bring. 19 million or 1.357 million per team yearly.

So about 400k per team more per year.

Now many might say that's not a lot but you can also say the image of the league would be lifted going from 41 units in 6 years to 76 in same type period. Almost doubling league output in NCAA tourney games.

Except units don't travel. They stay with the conference when a team leaves.

Often, they are used in lieu of exit fees.

I understand that I was making a point on what it could be if pattern continued

Correct, you can clearly see that in a six year period. AAC schools

Four schools earned 35 units
Three schools earned 6 units
Four schools earned zero

The three discussed additions- 35 units

Very clear pattern in last 6 years, that MUST be changed if this league wants to get better in the sport.

Now the good news are that
Two of the bottom group schools Houston and UCF look to be ready to end the drought
UC looks to keep things going in top group.
SMU could become a bigger factor

Bad news
UConn had a bad year and must bounce back. League needs them to be a yearly NCAA tourney team
Temple, Tulsa and Memphis have dropped off.
USF is fallen off a cliff
Tulane and ECU are still far from breaking the drought.

So more bad than good, so maybe adding one or all three of the mentioned teams is needed

RE: Basketball Units current 6 year period
So many seem content to sit around on their hands and wait for the league to get better. I'm not. I don't want our league to be compared to the A-10, MVC, MWC, and WCC. I want to be compared to the Big East, PAC 12, and SEC.

I can't speak for Temple and Memphis, but Tulsa was rebuilding this year. We lost practically everyone from last year. If Frank Haith is worth his salt we'll be dancing again soon.

We desperately need either SMU or Cincinnati to make a deep run this year (preferably both at least make Sweet 16).

Both have the talent and quality to make the S16, but both also have tough roads. SMU would have to beat USC and (likely) Baylor, Cincy would have to beat Kansas State and (likely) UCLA.

All four of those games are winnable, even Cincy over UCLA, but also loseable. It's a tough road.

Dumb not taking 3 hoops teams if they are willing to join. Especially 3 that can make the ncaa on a semi-regular basis.

Some how I don't see a publicly traded conference in the cards. That is really out of the box thinking.

Maybe it's me, but it seems like every post-season there is a thread started by a USF fan about the NCAA tournament credits. What I find ironic is that USF rarely contributes to the "credit pool," but their fans are rather eager that USF get their share of the credits.

How about this...especially in the wake of yet another hiring of an uninspiring head BB coach...take a break in calculating what the other teams are bringing in through the NCAA tournament credits. We get it, the whole conference benefits from what a couple of teams are doing. But until USF starts contributing to that largesse, it's unseemly to keep going on about the NCAA Basketball credits.

The conference works for and is owned by the member universities. I believe Grand Canyon University is the only publicly traded for-profit university that participates in NCAA athletics.

So you could buy a bit of Grand Canyon and potentially get dividends from the WAC

Churlish post. So a couple of USF fans have mentioned the tournament credits. Big deal. I don't happen to agree with the notion of adding schools to get tournament credits, but it's a fair thing to discuss.

I could mention Bearcat football struggles the past two seasons as holding back our "P6" propaganda campaign. We can all crap on each other if we want, but what's the point?

At some point you need to look in the mirror and come to that conclusion.

Buy Grand Canyon stock. Pay some 4* recruits money to play basketball. Then stock goes up when they make the final 4.
