Really good article from Drew. My thoughts:

-Nick's ability to recover and be 100% will obviously be crucial
-I'm really looking forward to seeing Sullivan play again. He always played with a lot of tenacity. He could be deadly if he's successful in developing a 3 point shot. Would be great if he could start at the 3.
-Of the incoming freshman, I think Bryant makes an immediate impact as the backup PG. He'll be a great player for us. I'm intrigued by Gueye and will be interested to see how we use him. He needs to add more weight. Don't know as much about Hurtado, but he seems the least ready of the freshman
-I'm not sold on Lavendar. Yes he wasn't playing his natural position, but I'm not convinced he can be a good player for us. He's too one dimensional (and not even that great at driving IMO) and a poor passer. He'll need a lot of improvement in the off season
-I'm really high on Darling's future. He's shown he's more than a jump shooter. He needs to work on defense, lateral quickness, and shooting while coming off screens rather than just being a spot up shooter
-Javien is a freak athlete, but it'll be hard for him to see more minutes until he can shoot better
-Not convinced Smallwood will ever be anything other than a role player for us. I hope giving Smallwood more minutes isn't his solution to replacing Tosin. We need a big that can make an immediate impact
-Seems like his top focus to fill for the last 2 spots is a shooter. I don't disagree with that assessment and we desperately need a good shooting guard
-Haha and Cokely need to be playing 30+ minutes a game next year. They'll be two of the best forwards in our league
-I like what I see so far from the schedule. Chattanooga will be a good home game. A BJCC double header is a great idea

Great article. Seems he has a grasp of what many of the problems were, which is 1/2 the battle. Now lets hope he can get them fixed.

Smallwood need to get stronger and play stronger, offensively and defensively, around the basket...

I like the idea of a double header with Auburn. I'll stay and root for MTSU. (Auburn's opponent) Would love to take some wind ut of the Auburn sails.

Even though he came from Valpo, Bryce Drew basically said this year he doesn't plan to play any mid-majors away from home after they lost to MTSU.

Maybe Bryce Drew can bring his own referees like Bruce Pearl did to Bartow Arena.

We have tried to play Vandy over and over and over. They will only play us at their place if at all. An SEC opponent would be nice but I wont hold my breath. I personally would ask USA or if we end up playing a scrub team get an in state. Hopefully they will find us a descent mid-major. Scheduling is getting harder and harder. They know how to keep our kind out of the NCAAs. Just don't play us.

As I've posted before, an acquaintance who follows recruiting insists that Sullivan had the highest ceiling out of that class, and was rated lower because he committed so early.

I do recall that in his very first Blazer action, against some Spanish pro team, he had multiple threes and a passel of points.

Love the Chattanooga game, my dad is a UTC alum. I'm in grad school part time at UTC so they've become my second team but I'll always pull for UAB over them. I'll try to make it down there for that one. Definitely want to do the Memphis game. I really like the idea of the BJCC doubleheader.

Ehsan said Hurtado could potentially play 1 through 4, which makes me think Ehsan plans on playing at a faster tempo next season, but it's probably just wishful thinking.

With the absence of a true center, we'll need to play at a faster pace on offense if we want to have an advantage on the floor.

Or we could just learn to shoot better, rebound, & not turn the ball over as much.

I wonder why that never occurred to UAB? I better email HCRE and suggest that for next season since that concept had not crossed their mind.

Or maybe, just maybe Pearl wanted to play in the BJCC multiple years in a row for recruiting and UAB playing a double header with auburn is a great way to take some wind out of his recruiting sails. Especially if MTSU beats them and uab wins as well. Would love to see UABs crowd hang around and root against Auburn and pull for their conference mates.

Good. Let Pearl send the message that's it's better to play in the state's urban and media center than off some rural exit on I-85.

So, do you want to play in Birmingham once a year where your friends can see you, or 18 times a year?

Like all things it life, it is all a matter of perspective and spin.

Unless something has just changed Chattanooga is not listed as one of the participants in the Cayman Islands Classic.
