Check out former UAB player James Ponder's posts in the comments section of the original al.com article...he played on 4 straight NCAA Tournament teams for Coach Gene Bartow (84, 85, 86, 87) and he absolutely nails it with his commentary.
Just because someone has a screen name of jamesponder does not mean that is James Ponder. It might be him, but anyone can choose that name as their screen name in a comments section.

Much as UAB decided when Barbee was their coach...they were an unneccessary RPI drag to let them dictate unfavorable terms of a series.
