Convention of States Project
Arizona is the 9th. There are 25 more to go to envoke article 5. Thoughts?

https://www.cosaction.com/arizona_is_9_s...r_id=31606

Quote:Purpose: Convention of States Action is a 501 ©(4) non-profit organization founded for the purpose of stopping the runaway power of the federal government. We believe Washington, D.C., is broken and will not fix itself. The federal government is spending this country into the ground, seizing power from the states and taking liberty from the people.

We have a solution that is as big as the problem.

Goal: Convention of States Action (COSA) seeks to urge and empower state legislators to call a convention of states. Delegates to the convention will have power to propose amendments to the Constitution that would curb the abuses of the federal government. Article V of the Constitution gives them this power; the COS Project will give them an avenue through which they can use it.

No... No no no... I don't think there is a chance in hell a state convention would produce a more limited government than we should already have.

I'm all about states' rights and limited federal government. Will look more into what these folks are really proposing to accomplish.

There are very few people out there I would trust to rewrite or even modify the US constitution

RE: Convention of States Project
In my view, the federal, tax rate should be 5-6% with limited or no deductions. Conversely, the state tax rates should be in the 20% range. The federal government should only perform those duties they are tasked with by the Constitution.

If the system was like this then you would have competition among the states and people could choose to live in a state that reflects their personal beliefs and desires. If California wants to be a socialist utopia with the corresponding 60% tax rate, that's cool. If Alabama wants to have a 10% tax rate and provide no social assistance, that's cool too.

Perhaps not, but no government could be less limited than the one we actually already have.

RE: Convention of States Project
This has been discussed before, but there is so little Constitutional Precedent for invoking Article V, that there is real concern that the states could get together and do whatever the hell they want, which is a really bad thing.

Changing the constitution should only be done in the case of something obvious that needs fixing. It should not turn into a political game.
