RE: Schedule / Season Ticket Question
I will really have to think about this in 2017.
If I don't renew I may put my money toward a donation to a specific program instead.

My 4 seats are tied to my donation level, which is around $4,000. If I were to attend all 6 games (an impossibility), that would cost me $667 for 4 people to attend a game and watch our stellar team.

With the crap schedule this year, it looks like my group will only be able to attend the 2 Saturday games. That would cost me $2,000 per game for 4 people to attend.

What would YOU do??

I would keep my donation level at the same level if it would not affect my lifestyle. I think that the program needs our support more than ever. JMHO.

Its out of a deep love for the program though. You can see it going down the tubes, and obviously Frazier despises fans, so it is the last recourse to get someones attention.

Your lies are so pathetic man, just stop, you're truly embarrassing yourself on this board.

When Frazier blamed the fans over coaching for the current state of the program, I just could not speak for a few mins, I was in shock.

I agree.. along with changes to donation levels.

I am not renewing my donation or my season tickets. May buy a cheap family package for $199 but will probably just explore other entertainment options.
Maddawg, I guess someone agrees with your perspective. Please keep up your negativity if it helps your state of mind. Try to keep some of it off the board as you may be driving money and people off this board. Thank you.

And theta nails it.

That's the irony of it.....You can't compare this to some "product" you're going to boycott and expect things to get better.

I've done East Side Seasons and I'm considering getting 2 this year as they're about half what they have been.

I respect others decisions if they decide to curtail what they've done in the past.

But to "encourage" others to cut back how they've supported NIU in the past as a solution, is for lack of a better term..."Mad".

If you see the program going into the dumps , as it is, no one can argue that, one can make a solid argument that donations are somewhat enabling. People have said it before, the only thing that matters to these people is money. I guarantee you an email saying you want to see your football program play again and ask for Saturday games in an email will have ZERO ZERO effect. Money is the only thing that speaks, and I feel it might be the ultimately sign of love for the program to step back donations to let it be known that the financial well being of a few at the top is not a replacement for the future of the athletic program.

RE: Schedule / Season Ticket Question
This really is a tough one. It is true - MONEY talks. And it is also true that withholding donations to HAF will hurt the students who have done nothing wrong.

Dog Fan, I think I would donate as you usually do but include a letter telling them that the pathetic lack of Saturday home games is unacceptable & has left you with no choice but to not renew your season tickets. Tell them that if next year's schedule is as horrible with few Sat. home games then you will withhold your donation as well. Also send a copy of the letter via email to Frazier. MAYBE if enough people scream LOUD ENOUGH they will listen.

I am giving very serious thought to not renewing our season tickets. With only 2 Sat. games and the likelihood that we will be lucky to make it to 2 other games (thinking Fri. 9/1 & maybe one other weeknight game)& considering that 3 of us have to take a day off of work to go to the Fri. game and 2 days off to go to any other weeknight game plus pay for a hotel for a night - that gets damned expensive for us. Our renewal for the west side is $132 each plus the handling fee. The only reason I would consider renewing is to keep our seats with the hope that next year our schedule does not suck like this year. IF next year is as bad - I will not renew for sure.

For the first time - instead of being excited - I was sad & depressed to open our renewal packet. :-(

I appreciate your honesty with this HFA, as I would assume MANY are in the same boat as you. You said something I put in bold which really struck me because I had the same type of thought in my mind. If there was some indication that SOMEONE was working to improve the situation or even just own the problem and admit there was one, I could tell myself maybe next season's schedule would be better, and I will just grin and bear it this year. Nothing is giving any indication that this is going to change, and if anything will continue to go in the opposite direction. The fact no one even see this as a problem offers no hope for future improvement , and thus I have to say I am in the same boat whether to renew this year or not.

Yea that's the worst part, it seems like we're just supposed to take it in the shorts and like it. I want to hear more and more ADs, including our own, gripe about this state of affairs.

RE: Schedule / Season Ticket Question
I would never advise Dog Fan or anyone else (with the possible exception of my daughters) on how to spend their money. I do know that he has been a loyal fan for many years and if NIU loses fans like him they are in trouble.

When the current ESPN contract is up, or sooner if there are escape clauses in the contract, the MAC needs to tell ESPN to shove it. We have an excellent play by play guy in Bill Baker. Lets go to a student produced internet video broadcast synched to the radio broadcast and get back to Saturday football as God intended.

It would be innovative and a solid educational opportunity. The MAC could be a pioneer along with the Mountain West if they are considering something similar.
