That no call completely changed the complexion of the last minute of the game. Instead of Arkansas getting the ball down 1 with 45 seconds left they are now down three, HUGE difference. Unc did play very good D down the stretch and unfortunately we will never know what would have happened with the correct call. Either way, live to play another day

I hear ya. I honestly don't know what SHOULD have been called. Could've called a hand-check or a block on Arkansas, or could've called a charge on Carolina. It was definitely a walk, that I'm certain.

Duke gets a raw deal playing a road game as a 2 as well. Lol

Zero OOC road wins for the Blue Devils. Who is responsible for scheduling in Durham?

Coach K hates, HATES, playing in the same location as UNC. Even when they play in G'boro/Raleigh, he complains about an adversary crowd.

it was even worse in this case, not only did he have to contend with UNC fans but their opponent was 100 miles form campus too. Without HB2 those games are likely somewhere in NC, probably wouldn't have been as bad. Whaddya gonna do

The Greenville games were moved from Greensboro. It is as if the NCAA forgot South Carolina is less than 100 miles from Columbia.

One of Coach K's sons-in-law does Duke's scheduling. They play everyone at Cameron other than neutral site games, the ACC-Big 10 challenge, and an occasional game in Greensboro against UNCG or Elon. It is very easy to schedule for Duke.

They love to play as many home games as possible over Christmas break because they can sell the students' seats to fans who can't get in when the students are there. I saw Duke play Penn in January 2012 and they played 3 or 4 home games within a week before the kids got back.

RE: NCAA/NIT Tournaments
It's funny to hear the narrative that Duke is young and lacks a bench. Duke starts two freshman, two seniors and one soph. That's a pretty good mixture in today's game. Off the bench they have a a junior (pre-season ACC POY) and the number one freshman in the country. They're not THAT young, and even if they were, it is a conscious decision by Coach K to go the OAD route.

If they lack a bench, you have to question why. They only play seven guys, but they have 8 McD AAs; 9 5 stars. They also have two four-star guys on the bench and an SMU transfer that averaged 12 and 7 as a freshman. K says that they need to be deeper and everyone just says 'yeah, ok. He's right, what a great coaching job with a short bench.'

Are people seriously crying about Duke having to play a tournament game with people rooting against them? Oh noes!!!! I'm not saying you guys, but I'm sure Duke fans are crying about it.

Sack up, boys. Not everyone worships the ground Duke walks on.

I'm far from a Duke apologist, in fact they right up there with UNC and EZ for my hatred, that said, to essentially have to play a road game in round 2 as a 2 seed, they got hosed!

Can anyone provide a good reason why Kansas State let go of Frank Martin?? They must hate their administration there right about now.

He left Kansas State voluntarily to coach at South Carolina. It seemed crazy at the time.

RE: NCAA/NIT Tournaments
Kansas State is the #2 school in the state. The gap between Kansas and Kansas State is greater than the gap between UNC-CH and NC State. Kansas has won 3 NCAA titles, K State 0. Kansas has been to 14 Final Fours, K State 4, most recently in '64. There are not many recruits in Kansas, so you must recruit out of state against Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, etc.

Perhaps Frank Martin saw the potential in SC no one else had seen. The other state school is a football school in a basketball conference. If a SC kid goes to an ACC school, USC doesn't have to play against him.

Virginia was terrible in basketball until Terry Holland got there. He kept Ralph Sampson instate and started an expectation of winning. Frank Martin is doing the same at USC.
