I can't imagine it being played at UVA if they win since they aren't even hosting the first round vs St Joseph's. Nothing would please me more than to take them out of the tournament in our house.

Does the WNIT seed teams the way the men's NIT does? Or is it a more nebulous "seeding" situation?

I think the WMIT seeds the way the Mens NIT used to seed. They dont. Games and sections of brackets are set up regionally unless there is no geographical match.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't seen seed info, so I was assuming that there was a different system in place.

Apparently, UVA doesn't want it at home either. A year ago, UVA made the WNIT. They opened at VCU. Won and advanced to the next round where they won at Rutgers. Their Round 3 matchup took them to Hofstra where their season ended.

2 seasons ago, they lost in the opening round of the WNIT at ODU.

You have to go back to 2012 to find them hosting WNIT games. Amazing how that once-nationally-significant program has dropped over the last decade. WBB is like a small country club of elite programs. I think it is terrible for the game that UConn dominates like they do (no cut to them by any means). UVA used to be in that club. Their last NCAAT appearance was in 2010.

JPJ Arena has events scheduled way in advance of these tournaments. UVA simply doesn't have a place for their girls to play. If MBB were in the NIT there would be issues as well.

Honestly, it's a nice problem to have. Buildings need to be utilized as much and as often as possible. In theory, we should have some of the same issues with our new arena, but I question just how much it will get utilized for other than basketball events, some I am sure, but JPJ actively books events. I question our commitment to seeking outside events like UVA has done with JPJ. However, this would be a reason to keep the Convo operating, at least for a short period, much like UNC has kept Carmichael Arena with it being the home for their WBB, volleyball, wrestling, etc..

In my opinion, we need to bring as many events into our new arena as we can possibly book and worry about the consequences and the affect it might have on our basketball teams as issues present themselves. If not, then we need to rethink the design and make the building more basketball centered with fans as up close and personal to the floor as possible. The presented design is not going to do this for us. There is way, way more room behind the baskets than what you'd expect from a pure basketball facility.

I checked JPJ Arena schedule and they don't have anything scheduled there until a concert on March 24th.

I've watched several Duquesne games this season. They are not as easy as you seem to think despite their conference finish. They could be real spoilers.

I didn't say it was an easy game for Drexel. Nothing is of late for that team. But I said that it's winnable for Drexel. The (other) Dukes still lost 15 games this year and finished 7th in a conference ranked 3 spots worse than the CAA. To me, that seems like it's a team that Drexel should beat at home, assuming they come ready to play.

All we need is 2 wins by both Drexel and JMU and the two teams are facing off for the fourth time this season.

Wife and I will be heading out for a weeks plus vacation starting tomorrow so we will not be able to make the game on Friday. We are both disappointed that we will not be at the Convo ROOTIN but we will be ROOTIN from afar.

Go Dukes!!

True, but the court and goals were just removed and the seats pushed back for Discover the Dinosaurs Unleashed exhibit and attractions which concluded yesterday. From what I can tell this a big deal to set up and take down. The court would have to be reinstalled which is not a small job.

Not that this isn't possible, but a big undertaking for a small WNIT first round event that is played against Saint Joseph's and will not make any money for the arena (most likely lose some cash) by the time the NCAA get's their share of the ticket sales. Often you simply say no. The JPJ arena is run by an outside entity, SMG, a property management firm, therefore, it's not like you just call your own employees into work and say we need this accomplished "yesterday". I'll admit that it would be interesting to see if they would have done it for the MBB team should they be playing in the NIT, my guess is yes.

Bathroom facilities still used for those parking at U-Hall public/free parking on FB game days. When you walk in there, it looks like a dungeon that isn't being used for anything else. Maybe some athletic offices are still there for minor sports. I don't know. Doesn't make much sense why it is still there.

Virginia wins, though it wasn't easy. St. Joe's came back and took a lead in the 4Q.

Lady Dukes twitter says we are hosting Cavaliers on Sunday at 2pm.

Offices and other facilities are still used but I've heard that asbestos is the reason the building is still standing. They don't need the land yet, so it's not worth the expense to tear it down. Either way I'm glad the game is in Hburg where fans appreciate WBB. All eyes are on the men in Cville.
