They hired Arkansas St's head coach after just one year in Jonesboro. He went 20-12 this season including a win at Georgetown.

Why would he go from Sun Belt to a C-USA school? C-USA is a step down I heard.

He wasn't hired because he was a Sun Belt Coach. He was hired because he was a former Baylor assistant and probably has lots of recruiting ties in Texas.

His family lives in Denton.

I'm sure that a lot of it right there. Other than that it's a pretty lateral move

This guy obviously made this move for personal reasons because there's no way UNT is in anyway a better job that Ark St.

One job is in a Dallas suburb. The other is in a forgotten corner of Arkansas.

UNT signed him to a 5 year deal at $600k per year making him the 2nd highest paid in the conference according to UNT's radio guy. Only Tim Floyd makes more at $605k/yr. Glad UNT is serious about spending the money trying to get better.

Now NT pays their HC more than we paid Eshan. Wonder where we rank now.

My guess is that his mindset is similar to what Bill Clark's was when he left Jacksonville. There is a ton of potential at UNT if the right guy gets hold of the program. There is a lot of talent in the DFW area. Add in that he's going home and making $600k and it looks like a no-brainer to me.

Now he has to recruit and prove he can coach them up.

It's a great hire and I'm glad to see NT is investing in basketball. The Super Pit is a great arena and the fan base will support a conistent product. I believe Litrell will be good for them as well.

This is what we wanted right? The lower programs to invest in basketball. Wish UTSA would build an arena.

Last year when Texas A&M finished second in the SEC tournament, every one of their starting five was from Texas high schools. It apparently is not just a "football state".

This is what we want and need. The bottom half of cusa cannot continue to be a dumpster fire.

It's nice that you know more about sec schools standings last year than you do about the team in our own conference that ran away with it this year.

The bottom half needs to improve, but the better teams in the conference have to keep pace and remain dominant. If the lower half improves and the upper half remain the same, then parity exists and we beat each other up, remaining a one bid lead.

I have become used to our state's universities being dependent on the better funded public high schools in other states for over 80% of the team's starters for all our FBS sports teams. Exceeding the annual signing of more than 4 or 5 Alabama public high school seniors by any state FBS program in Alabama is the exception to the rule. How many of the public high school grads signed by the 5 FBS schools between Sept 2016 and today were from Alabama public HSs?
