Did anybody read the article about the two guys from Florida that came to us, because they were told they could play this year? I'll bet Clappy red shirts them so fast that their heads will spin!

Rebel Football Players Report To Campus
Team to go through first practice Monday night.

Aug. 3, 2003

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head football coach David Cutcliffe greeted members of the 2003 Rebel squad here Sunday with returning players and freshmen reporting to campus at the same time.

"It's always an exciting time of year," Cutcliffe said. "We're in a unique situation with the varsity and freshmen reporting on the same day. Most of their time will include taking physicals and completing a lot of forms. We're looking forward to getting on the practice field Monday night."

Cutcliffe announced Sunday that two members of the signee class -- Mico McSwain of Richton, Miss., and Covington Wright of Columbus, Ga., -- will not be joining the squad. "Mico and Covington failed to meet the NCAA initial eligibility requirements," Cutcliffe said.

Cutcliffe also announced Brandon Jenkins of Memphis, Tenn., is still awaiting clearance and did not report.

"The newcomers will be learning on the run," Cutcliffe added. "From a mental standpoint, we will need to go at a difference pace. There will be a lot of meetings taking place."

Monday will be a busy day for the squad, which will sandwich "Media Day" between meetings and practice.

Ole Miss opens the 2003 season August 30 at Vanderbilt as Cutcliffe begins his fifth season at the helm of the Rebel football program.

I think that Danny Bell has a good shot at legitimate PT, as well as either Dawan Woods, or Alan Abrams, which both depend on the improvement of our backfield as a whole. Bell would add solid depth to our secondary, which is what our D thrives off of. Wouldn't be suprised at all to see him.

I think if they prove themselves mentally and physically, they will get some playing time. Cutcliffe MUST pull out all the stops - don't hold back win and win NOW!
