Ball's in Spanier's court now, I guess. He's gotta be nervous.

He's toast.

And he is a real scumbag. I wonder if his ego is so large he'll release a statement trying to justify anything he's done. It's easy to roll on college bureaucracy, but, that can't save you. And it's easy to roll on the boosters and politicians who'd have him out of there on a rail if he'd had a spine and ripped out Paterno and the athletic administrators sooner. And that's what that guy did well at Penn State: roll on others. Hey, have a problem with tuition hikes year after year? Don't hate me and how I ran the books...blame your state politicians!

Penn St fb should have been deep sixed for three years. I said it then and I say it now. But the almighty dollar is more important than justice.

I was never a Spanier fan ... never, not even from Day 1 of his Presidency (I was an undergrad when Spanier replaced the previous President, Joab Thomas).

Spanier is NOT a stand-up guy. You are correct about tuition hikes. Penn State's tuition was sky-high (which should not be the case given the inherent mission of land grant institutions), but he ALWAYS blamed it on Harrisburg. Always.

A Cincy student-athlete committed a crime. He didn't rape children, but it was a crime nonetheless.

Therefore, the appropriate thing to do would be to shut down UCincy athletics for some period of time, perhaps a few months.

Makes sense, right?

Curley was I believe the one who kept a file on Sandusky. Schultz was in charge of the police department and didn't report the crime. They both had almost no chance of getting out of this. With Spanier, it isn't as clear cut.

If there was a conspiracy by the administration of the college, the coaching staff of the college and or the Police department of the college to cover up the crime to protect the sport of the student athlete then absolutely they should the sport down and probably the entire athletic department.

A basketball player shoplifted a magazine, the AD talked to the head of the police dept to have the citation squashed ... and you want to shut the bball team or maybe the entire dept down??

No one will agree with you.

If you want to equate a man given free access to PSU going around raping children to a player shoplifting a magazine, more power to you.

Whenever rape and sexual assault is brought up here, you seem to rush in to defend the alleged criminal and/or enabler/obstructor (PSU, Baylor, etc.). At least, it seems that way.

Why is that?

Beyond question, shoplifting a magazine is not equivalent to sexually assaulting children.

It appeared, from his previous post, that he thought shutting down the sport or AD was an appropriate response to any crime being committed by a student athlete, so long as there was a cover up.

I have never, and will never, defend a student athlete (or any other person affiliated with a university) who commits a crime.

I will defend the university itself from extraneous punishment, simply because someone or someones who are affiliated with it, commit crime(s).

You'd probably defend Mayor Larry Vaughn...

When the president of the university covers up multiple felonies, yes, the school should be punished more severely than if the president covered up a single shoplifting incident.
