Attention Naysayers and Negative Nancy's
Can we just enjoy our 7th straight ncaa?

UC should win the opening round (anything is possible in the ncaa though) and we certainly can beat UCLA, IF they win their opener, if it comes to it in the second round (anything is possible in the ncaa).

The sky isn't falling.

The ncaa committee isn't out to get us.

Neither Ohio State nor XU paid off the ncaa committee to screw UC (lol).

Just smile, enjoy the ride, and GOOOOOO Cats!

The only thing that bums me out is being shipped out to Sacramento. Makes it very difficult to go.

The UCLA game, if it happens, will at the very least be an interesting match up. From what little I know of them, we are almost polar opposites.

The 6 seed doesn't bother me - but we should be the 6 seed in the Midwest. One - makes sense for the team and the seeding. We should easily be the first 6 seed (#21) with our RPI, BPI etc numbers.

Plus that 6 seed has an amazing path to the elite 8/final four - only having to get through Rhode Island, a banged up Oregon and Louisville.

The UCLA game depends on a lot Leafs status. He had an angle sprain a few weeks back, and UCLA hasn't been very good wit out him. He is a beast, and UCLA's best player even better than Ball. When Ball decides to defend that makes a huge difference too, he has shown times of not being interested in defense at all.

I watched UCLA's tournament games since I'm on the west coast and while they didn't play great, they are still easily the best 3 seed. Meanwhile it's questionable if Oregon is a 3 at all.

UC had a great regular season. A few if's - what if they had beaten URI and UCF? What if they had won today?

Maybe then they get a 3 or a 4 seed but it's clear the committee does not like the AAC so even those wins may not have helped.

All metrics had UC in the top 20 going into today's game. RPI, KenPom, Sagarin, KPI, LRMC and BPI. After the game we slipped below Top 20 in only 2 of those metrics. The AAC bias was obvious.

And when Wichita State takes out Kentucky there will be plenty of tickets available for us in Memphis. 04-cheers

If UC advances out of the first weekend...
I will make the trip to Memphis if I can snag a ticket.

Until the committee does a better of seeding and selections stops relying on quality wins and penalizing teams that don't play in the top six conferences its always going to difficult to get a good draw. The purpose of computer rankings was to find a way to compare teams that don't play equal schedules.

Anyway, this draw gives UC a great opportunity to beat some power conferences and prove to everyone that they should have been seeded higher. Winning the first game is would make this season success but overall a Sweet 16 or better would cap of a really great season.

Wow, are you suggesting (finally) that being in the mid-major AAC is hurting our beloved University?

SMU won 30 games and both the regular season and tournament championships as well as beating the #12 BPI team twice, and all they managed was a 6 seed. Everyone should let that sink in - it's stunning.

Doris Burke even said today that the gap between the Power conferences and the rest will continue to widen. And that's basketball. We all know of the ever widening chasm in football.

UC's biggest problem is not getting shipped out to California, or not making it to the Sweet 16, or having our historic Nippert whored out to minor league soccer, it's being a 2nd class citizen in today's world of college athletics. All of UC's leaders over the last few years should be ashamed. And this new President and new BOT better get the job done or this disrespect and loss of revenue will begin to seep into enrollment numbers and alumni donations.

I completely agreed with you until the part about whose fault it is. When we're talking about the fact that the nexus of TV Networks, Powerful conferences, and shoe companies have made college athletics less competitive, the anger shouldn't be that UC's administration has somehow failed to get them into this exclusive club - it should be anger that the club exists in the first place.

That is to say - If Baylor were to be ejected from the B12, and UC picked up, we should be just as mad at the state of affairs in college sports. It wouldn't change the fortunes of Wichita State, SMU, and everyone else playing with ever increasing disadvantages.
