There is no script. There is the world of modern recruiting, where an hour can mean everything.

No matter what you believe, the fact is that Tubby took DAYS to contact Avery Woodson AND Charlie Moore.

He just started recruiting the F from Cordova that Arkansas offered months ago.

It doesn't matter if they are guaranteed leaving town, you still pick up the phone and gauge interest. You still make contact. You try. If that's hard to comprehend, then we will just agree to disagree on this topic.

DAYS may as well mean weeks or months it today's world.

And once upon a time Kelly Wise was transferring and John Calipari had to re-recruit him.

Vincent Askew was gone to Kansas.

Doneal Mack enrolled at New Orleans.

Things change, but they don't if you don't even try.

Those are exceptions as most do transfer when they accept an offer from elsewhere. Woodson was gone even before Pastner left. No point debating that any more.

No, he had made a decision, but was still in Memphis.

But soon-to-be Memphis graduate Avery Woodson told The Commercial Appeal this morning that Smith hasn't reached out to him -- at least not yet. Woodson has made visits to VCU and Butler. It's unclear at this point whether he would reconsider his decision to transfer from Memphis if Smith does reach out. He told The Commercial Appeal earlier this week that he doubted he would return, adding, however, that he was interested to see whom the U of M would hire.

Like I said, Askew was on a plane to Kansas.

Doneal Mack was ENROLLED at New Orleans.

Things can change, but only if you try to change them.

Woodson may have gone to Butler anyway, but it Tubby took an unconscionable length of time to contact Woodson.

Tubby should probably try to convince Dedric to stay another year after he announces he's leaving, too. I'm sure he could do it if he's worth his salt, regardless of what's already been decided.

If Tubby had called Woodson as soon as the Memphis job was a adobe deal he might have changed his mind. We'll never know because Tubby didn't do what he should have done.

Hell Tubby could have already been informed that Avery was leaving regardless by staff or the admin.
