My worry is they defend the three point line very well.

Yep, but UNCW doesn't shoot conventional 3 balls either. Ingram can get his shot by himself even defended with range. And, now Mosley is bombing from 23 feet or so. That's a problem to deal with. Maybe it's just me, but this is the match up I was wanting. Hawks have to defend that guy with a bun hair style and their PG but other than that, I don't see a ton of offense. Let's just see....

This isn't the matchup I was hoping for. We can beat them for sure, but i think we got hosed by not getting a 10/11. Any team that can hold Unc to 43 points presents a serious problem

Tough match up for sure. Got to hit our foul shots to have a chance. Anyone watch the Louisville - UVA game earlier in the year?

For the record, be glad you grabbed the auto bid. Looks like you would have been out, MTSU would have been out and Nevada would have been out. This is based on how they ranked all of the teams. Rhode Island would have been in still, but barely. Glad Syracuse was not included. USC was not a good choice to take either.

RE: 2017 NCAA Selection Show
Only one player on the roster averages double figures at 12.5 ppg. UVA is a great defensive team though, but not great rebounding. Also, playing in Orlando, UVA will not have strong fan support, and UNCW as the underdog should get the crowd behind them if they keep it close.
If we can get hot, we could get them on their heels trying to make up points. Also noticed they play a deep bench, with seven players having played all 32 games, and three players who played in at least 30 games. Only 3 players have started every game and one other player started 28. Otherwise, nobody else has started over 14.
London Perrantes 12.5 ppg 6'2" 197 lb. Sr. - Starter
Devon Hall 8.7 ppg 6'5" 207 lb RS Jr. - Starter
Marial Shayock 8.6 ppg 6'5" 196 lb. Jr.
Kyle Guy 7.8 ppg 6'3" 165 lb. Fr.
Isaiah Wilkins 7.0 ppg 6'7" 225 lb. Jr. - Likely starter
Darius Thompson 6.1 ppg 6'4" 196 lb RS Jr.
Ty Jerome 4.4 ppg 6'5" 192 lb. Fr.
Jack Salt 3.7 ppg 6'11" 247 lb. RS So - Starter
Jarred Reuter 3.8 ppg 6'7" 243 lb. So.
Marmadi Diakite 3.7 ppg 6'9" 214 lb RS Fr.
Not a very tall team overall. Looks like they will go 6'2", 6'3", 6'5", 6'7", 6'11" to start, with subs not adding any size. We may be able to beat them on the boards, drive to the bucket and hit some 3's. They beat Louisville twice, and held them to 55 and 53 points FWIW.
Something about this matchup I like. It will come down to the same thing it has all year. Live by the 3, die by the 3. If we make 10+ we win, if not we will have a hard time against a great defensive team.

That is a scary big line for UVA.

I agree Dan. My first gut was 6 points and I'd take the Hawks if I were a betting man. Hawks can win this outright and should feel that way to a man.

Them giving both us and MTSU the 12 seed as auto bids was clear they would have snubbed us.

RE: 2017 NCAA Selection Show
Modified man to man called pack line. The key to breaking down their defense is to have Bryce, Ingram create off the dribble and Ingram, Flemings, Mosley, Bryce, Talley, etc. make threes. Ball movement is key. They want us to drive into defense and kick the ball out and shoot jumpers. If we can make contested threes we will give them trouble.

Just heard on ESPN's Bracketology that in the last couple days no teams moved in seeding. They were interviewing a committee member at the end of the show.
Which means they never thought for a moment we were better than a 12. We're gonna prove them wrong, and Virginia shall be the committee's sacrifice.

RE: 2017 NCAA Selection Show
I find this interesting, there is an obvious bias toward Dayton since they host the first four. As a result they get a seven seed and Wich St gets a ten, however, Wich St is a 6.5 favorite, wonder how the committee justifies that one.
