"What the last two losses might well do, however, is firm up Smith’s resolve to rebuild the program his way. Just Thursday, he pointed out the awkwardness of having “a father and son situation” on staff. My guess is that won’t happen again"

Those plans seem to have changed considerably, although there are technically 2 situations; It would be VERY detrimental, none-the-less hypocritical to address one without the other! 07-coffee3 05-nono 03-idea 04-jawdrop

Who should replace Tubby?

I prefer an energetic and media savvy coach who loves and excels at recruiting and program promotion, possesses the willingness to mitigate his weaknesses, and do everything within the rules that advance winning. He (IMO) should run a defense and offense best fitting most Memphis area recruits (i.e., running and pressing like Louisville)

When it comes time all these guys will be off the board but as a future hypothetical.

You calI 2/3 'untouchables'

Gregg Marshall
Archie Miller
Buzz Williams

Then you move on to a realistic list and vet:

Eric Musselman
Danny Hurley
Kevin Keatts
Steve Forbes
Matt McCall
Will Wade
Leon Rice

Etc

Watching Rhode Island now, they look good.
Most of ones ones on realistic list would be good.
Most of them will be in tourney or NIT this year.

No Saul, he has no head coaching experience. We have already tried that experiment, and look where we are now.

RE: Who Should Replace Tubby?
OK..just to be clear. Tubby is saying I can't do it with the arrangement that had already been put in place before I got here. That 'arrangement' is why we lost the last two games by 71 total. How can Memphis fans expect me to work within parameters that were impossible for my style of BBall...!! I don't care how talented they are....get rid of all the impediments (kids that come from Memphis with strings attached) and give me a shot my way...? Because I may not be a great recruiter and it's true I don't believe in pay for play--including handing out a Tiger cap or two that's lying around...But I can win if we do it my way. And after I do win the program gets bequeathed to my son, Saul...

Is that what he's saying? Or did I go overboard. Don't bother throwing me a life preserver if I did....I think I'd rather swim away on my own....if that's what he is saying.

Ouch

We question AFTER the season whether TUBBS is STILL interested or can handle the level of Memphis BB.....I think whats been determined is that the COMBINATION of TUBBS & SON are NOT ready for this level.....Tough decisions have been made....

Hey! Can someone put together a PS meme of TUBB'S & SON....I'm liking that a lot:

RE: Who Should Replace Tubby?
I'm not down with blaming the players. Let the person who is getting paid--the person who blamed us for our 'high' expectations...go on his way. He's a nice grandfatherly fellow...but so what.

Never mind the horrendous blowouts on national TeeVee....Is someone trying to tell us that Dedric Lawson ( the guy who wants to go pro) and his brother KJ ( a fierce competitor), and Markel ( the guy who wants to transfer to a good school)...I mean is someone trying to tell us that these guys did not want to do well in front of that national audience....?

Any time a coach starts publicly blaming fans, it's beyond over. smh

Usually a coach doesn't go into public 'blaming mode' after only one year....
unless he/she can't handle the situation at all. at all.

When you don't shoot well; you don't look good. Shooting 22/65 plus 4/26; then, 19/60 plus 4/17 is not shooting well is it?
