ODU was rarely on tv via ASN in my area anyway. Good riddance.

JMU and UNCW are on in Hampton Roads more than ODU. SAD.

Good news. ASN was the worst.

Whatever online service we get, I hope they have a streaming app on Roku.

At least the ODU president is not a politically correct liberal that has told your pep band that they can no longer have good clean fun while attending a college basketball game by heckling the opposing team during the starting lineup announcements.

JMU seems to have two goals when it comes to men's basketball 1) a capital raise for a new arena and 2) kill off what little MBB fan base still exists after AD Jeff Bourne has run the program in to the ground.

These goals cannot coexist.

Ours already did that years ago haha. Even moved the band to the opposite end of the student section so they wouldn't be near the opponent's bench.

Look, our TV deal stinks and you can make a lot of fair complaints about it. But this is not even true.

I'm hoping for more ESPN3 exposure next year. Seemed to have more towards around the end of this year.

ASN's games are likely to be split between college insiders and espn 3. Also many are likely to be produced by ODU.

who produces the ESPN 3 streams? aren't they produced by the local school? if so somebody needs to tell the camera man to get off the foul shooter a second sooner so we can see if the shot was good or not.03-banghead

Most of the streams are produced by the home school. ODU is trying to make vast improvements, with new equipment, but they are doing it underfunded and undermanned. I think we are still better than most in CUSA.

I admit being ignorant when it comes to conference rules and media deals, but is there anything to stop ODU from making our own individual side deals with, say, CSN, MASN, or even BeIN?

I don't think so, but my guess it would be with a local station and not a regional/national sports channel, because if CUSA as an entity can't get on TV enough, how likely is it that ODU would have enough weight to pull it off?

I believe VCU has a deal with one of the local stations in Richmond to broadcast games that aren't being picked up by a cable channel or ASN.

We have worked deals with CSN-DC in the past for games here and there. Most recently though the stuff that didn't end up on a wider distributed TV platform ended up with a limited distribution via Cox on either Cox 11 or the Cox ODU channel. That has not really happened since ASN started though and most of the games were from Foreman or The Ted. While any TV is better than no TV we need to push to get more of our road games on TV.

We need more games period on TV, not just the road games. Many of the alumni are out of the Hampton Roads area. Many times the locals might be out of the area on vacation or for work when the games take place. Also, we don't want something that is limiting the games to just Cox Cable picking up the games. Too many other outlets would be excluded from the broadcast (Charter Cable, Dish TV, Fios, DirecTV, etc.) and most of the ODU fans would miss seeing those 'televised' games.

We need to be on CBS or ESPN every game... but it ain't going to happen. I hear you, but Cox picking up most of the games again like they did when we were in the CAA would at least be a step in the right direction.

That would be meaningless to me since I would not have any access to the programming. Cox Cable isn't even offered in my area.

Until we get more regional games like we had with the CAA, OR with more popular schools as opponents, I don't think the tv exposure will change much.

I was pretty impressed with BeIN. I would be happy if we could cut a deal with them.
