Most impressively, the three matchups between the Blue Devils and Tar Heels this season are ESPN’s three most-streamed college basketball games ever.

Is this really a surprise? It's the best rivalry in all of American sports.

Great article from JFann (AllSportsDiscussion.com) comparing ACC attendance in DC last year to Big Ten attendance in DC this year... there IS no comparison!

http://allsportsdiscussion.com/2017/03/1...ington-dc/

The ACC blows away the Big Ten for basketball fans in Washington DC.

Next year we'll see how the Big Ten does in New York (the ACC did very, very well there).

Big Ten didn't come close to filling the place for ANY game.

I'd be interested in comparing attendance for this year's ACC and Big East Tournaments.

Not disputing that. But I would also bet that the vast majority of those TV Households doing that also have ESPN, they just prefer to watch the broadcast on a Raycom station for the reason you cite above.

So, imho, those who have both a Raycom station and ESPN and who choose to do the above are still included in the extrapolated numbers used by Nielsen.

Though I have been known to be wrong before.

Cheers,
Neil

Figures (Duke-North Carolina ACCT) do not include the 109,000 who streamed coverage on WatchESPN, the largest college basketball audience ever on the streaming platform. Nor do they include simulcast coverage on the ACC Network.

WHO'S WHO

As with most of your posts, I don't understand the logic of it. ACC Network/Watch ESPN are streaming applications. No streaming apps are currently part of Nielsen ratings to my knowledge. A fact included in the post I made that started this thread which you should know since your quote about the 109,000 came from the link I provided.

Not sure where you are getting the add-on piece of about simulcast coverage on the ACC network, since I can't find that in any linked article in this thread. But is the inclusion of ACC Network here referring to the Raycom OTA stations or the streaming application part? But even if the former, the Nielsen numbers would only exclude the Raycom OTA stations IF those viewing the broadcast did not have ESPN as well.

Perhaps you can enlighten us further as to what prompted your post but with plain English instead of your e e cummings imitation? And it would be helpful if you included the link to the "Nor do they include simulcast coverage on the ACC Network" quote.

Cheers,
Neil

Clearly the number one rivalry in all of college basketball. And the best two team combo ever in college basketball conference history.

Neil

More ratings news from Sports Media Watch

http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2017/03/...-dame-fsu/

Duke-UNC scored a 1.8 final rating and 3.0 million viewers in Friday’s ACC Tournament semifinals on ESPN, up 114% in viewership from UNC-Notre Dame last year, ratings for which were unavailable (1.4M), and up 38% and 45% respectively from Virginia-UNC in 2015 (1.3, 2.1M). It was the most-watched ACC Tournament game since the 2015 final between UNC and Notre Dame (3.5M).

Entering Saturday’s final, figures for which were delayed due to issues at Nielsen, all ten games of the ACC Tournament posted a double-digit increase in viewership.

Cheers,
Neil

Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”
