No, I've just seen these droughts all too often this year. Barnes sometimes goes away from what works.

Tonight is a perfect example of what has frustrated me and others.
What I really want to see next year from my school is more consistently.

But, congrats to NMSU Ags. They played well and earned it. Show well in the Dance.

Alright Aggies keep playing the foul game and beat the 3 seed. Represent the WAC well.

You guys stood a chance but NMSU is shooting a statistical anomaly from the free throw line throughout the tournament. They are the best at the foul game I have ever seen besides Kansas and Duke.

OT a bit.
I thought the officiating for the WAC tourney was pretty good. Conversely, I'm just watching a few minutes of the Big 12 final. Officiating looks terrible imo; missed travels, (no) tripping call blown, etc.

This is just my opinion but I think the refs did the WAC teams a disservice this season. I felt the refs allowed too much bumping, hand checking, and moving screens on the perimeter throughout this season; such that when the refs try clean up the style of play to level with the rest of the country, certain teams were left vulnerable to collecting a lot fouls with their style. All season, Weir taught his players to defend with their feet; not with their hands.

Great job Bakersfield and Pistol Pete on another terrific season.

Hoping New Mexico St draws Florida St or Baylor. Those are the two teams I think the Aggies can upset.

Yup, that was my intent. I have done this before, but not in a long time.

I will never say that refs are why GCU wins or loses games, but I have had the same observation, Pistol. Specifically, I feel like CSUB has gotten away with a lot of the things you've mentioned all season because "that's just how they play." I mean, if you aren't going to be called for it, why not?

During the radio broadcast at CSUB, you could hear Coach Majerle on the refs about how tight/physical Russell was being played. The official's audible response: "They're just playing hard, coach." I think Majerle's response sums up my feelings on it: "My guys are playing hard, too! Why are you calling the exact same things on us?"

It's a coach's job to work the refs. I get it. A refs job probably isn't done right unless everyone is mad at them. I get that, too. My only request is that however a game is going to be called (tight & touchy or loose & physical), that it a) be called consistently for the full 40+ minutes, and b) be called equally both ways.

Found this interesting:

Zach Ewing @zewing
26m

According to @kenpomeroy, CSUB maxed out at a 92 percent to win at about the 15-minute mark last night. 7 minutes later it was 14 percent.

I dont view it as a lack of consistency, I think they just wore out at the end, which was 4.5 halfs played in the last 2 days at that point. Frustrating though, even I felt frustrated watching it for CSUB

If the refs had called the games during the year like they should have CSUB would have probably lost about 6 or 7 more games. They are always pulling and grabbing. BTW, in Phoenix GCU was doing it big time to NMSU and that disrupted the Aggies. GCU won fair and square that game, don't get me wrong, but our game is pound it and either get fouled or make a basket. If refs are "letting them play", it will hurt NMSU because of our brand of basketball. I think Hurd paid the officials to not make the calls against us in Phoenix!

Bakersfield wore themselves out in this game. There is no way they can play that defense for an entire 40 minutes against a team like New Mexico State especially in a tournament format.

NMSU played 120 minutes this weekend, Bakersfield played 100 minutes. The argument that Bakersfield lost last night, because they were tired is a lame excuse. NMSU players played way more minutes this weekend.

New Mexico State probably didn't get back to their hotel rooms after the UMKC win until way after 1:00AM.
