FCS football only conferences
FCS members should take advantage of the FCS football conference rules .
Six members and football only are allowed.

Add Northern Colorado to the Summit for Denver's travel partner.

THEN
Summit FC
Dakota four, UNC and Western Illinois

MVFC
UNI, YSU, ISU, ISU, MSU and SIU

Big Sky
PSU, UI, EWU, UM, MSU and ISU

WACFC
NAU, Cal-Poly, UCD, Webber ST, SAC St and SUU

AN agreement to reform the bigger conference if a member left could make it stable.
The advantage more auto bids four conference champs instead of two.
Better for rivalries and guarantees yearly games vs closest teams.
Should reduce travel a little obviously they would still play old conference mates a lot.

Northern Colorado should be in the RMAC. They are way over their heads in D1.

Is there an NCAA regulation about how long a conference must be intact before it can receive a playoff auto-bid? Because two more auto bids would mean either two fewer at-large spots or another expansion.

For sports other than mbb, all it takes is for six teams to be together two years to get an autobid. In the example above, the WACFC would get an autobid immediately, because those fb teams have been together for more than two years. The Big Sky would also retain it's autobid if it adds Idaho and the MVFC would retain it's autobid. The Summit doesn't meet that criteria yet.

They are performing better than Portland St, Sac St, and Idaho St, even in attendance, but that isn't saying much. N Colo will get NCAA probation for cheating for men's basketball too. Greeley is too close to Fort Collins, so N Colo's enrollment growth potential is stunted. In DII days, they had an amazing fb coach when they dominated NDSU and others. It amazing what a coaching change can do.

Possibly but then, the setup above, most of those at-large spots are taken by the same conference so it would be a wash basically.
