Well, someone had to do it.

9 years ago, ODU made it to the Sweet 16.

14 year ago, ODU made it to the Elite 8.

19 years ago, ODU made it to the Championship Final.

31 years ago, ODU won the NCAA National Championship.

It's been a long time since ODU put on its dancing shoes and Coach Barefoot had 5 seasons to end the drought.

I think it's fair to put Coach Barefoot .....

I agree, but I don't think this is going to happen this year. KB still has one more year left on her contract., and the only way I see KB getting any type of extension is going past the sweet 16 next, and that is definitely not happening with what her roster will be looking like.

I don't believe ODU will pay for that 1 year AND a new coach's contract (especially with all of the state budget cuts), when they can just take care of it at the end of next season. As much as that may pain some people, the Lady Monarchs aren't going to be any better with a new head coach now vs. a year from now. It's sad, but true.

I know this is from a couple years ago, but our budget has not gotten significantly smaller since. Can someone explain why we are too poor to fire anyone, pay for post season, hire a decent men's and women's basketball coach, pay our football coaches enough to keep them, etc.? Our peers in terms of budget don't seem to be too poor to be competitive, in fact there are only 9 G5 programs with a budget larger than ours.

Could the fact we're trying to fund a new stadium costing millions and millions have anything to do with it?

I don't know, supposedly we are funding that with cash on hand. And if that is the case, then I imagine they thought we could afford it. If they didn't think that, maybe they should have attempted to issue bonds rather than decimating the athletic department to build a stadium that seemingly offers no way to significantly increase revenue.

I keep hearing it will, but with only a couple thousand more seats and no additional suites, I am not sure I understand how it is going to increase significantly.

Bottom line is KB is a horrible XOs and in game coach, while being a marginal recruiter. She was ill prepared for the job when she came on board and has not improved. Time to pony up the money and find someone worth the Lady Monarch pedigree!!!

Not much of a women's BB fan. But I am a fan of ODU in general. They ought to hire this guy.
