RE: NCAA Division I-FBS Athletic Department Revenues
All that money and yet Michigan's athletic department is $240 million in debt.

It's crazy how college athletics has turned into big business.

The 12 million difference between top to bottom in the MAC is the smallest of any conference. MAC has a level playing field for its members. Every school has a decent chance to win. Some of those conferences the financial advantage is so stacked that half the conference can not compete.

A list showing net income would be far more telling and interesting.

RE: NCAA Division I-FBS Athletic Department Revenues
G5 median budget & (per school) TV deal.

AAC: 50,866,490 ($2 million)
MWC: 37,124,664 ($1 million)
MAC: 29,582,492 (850,000)
CUSA: 29,075,591 (250,000)
SBC: 22,531,455 (125,000)

Takeaways:

-AAC spends a ton more without much more in the way of additional revenue.

-The difference between the MAC and CUSA is the MAC is better on TV deal, travel costs and revenue split (12 ways instead of 14).

-SBC is the winner with the smallest budget, smallest revenue split (10 ways) but smallest TV deal (which doesn't matter when you're spending so much less).

RE: NCAA Division I-FBS Athletic Department Revenues
I wonder what the "revenues" would be for some schools if they removed the school subsidies and student fees?

Sorry, I think that is meaningless when dealing with numbers that vary so greatly among conferences. 12 million when 35 million is the top is a huge gap. if you go based on percentage that would be much more relevant.

RE: NCAA Division I-FBS Athletic Department Revenues
These "revenues" are more or less budgets for MAC athletics as all MAC figures include heavy school subsidies. A big reason Akron is out in front is they spend ~$4M per year servicing the debt on Infocision. 10 of the 12 schools spend between 27 and 32 million, which I'd say puts them all in the same ballpark.
