What did you expect when we hired Tubby? That was a statement hire that basketball is not important.

Did we have to spend so much to prove we didn't care?

We have become, in our post-Calipari era, the same thing that UMass became in their post-Calipari era.

We are the new UMass.

In leadership you are frequently judged by how your endeavors fare after you've left.

That's certainly true over the last three seasons and I don't see it changing anytime soon. Sad.

You cannot win big at Memphis without dealing in the grey areas of college basketball. That's the ONLY way you're getting top flight players to come here from out of town and probably the only way you get top flight players to stay home on a consistent basis.

As long as the administration sees staying as clean as possible as the top priority and I believe it is at this point, Memphis will not see another big NCAA run.

You cannot win big anywhere, including UCLA, KU, UK, UNC, and Duke, without dealing in the gray areas and unsavory players/entourages. Anyone that believes the blue bloods are successful without cheating are simply Pollyannas. Why we, an outsider, are intent on riding the white horse of integrity, is beyond me. If you want me to return to season ticketdom, the University needs to make one of two changes -hire a coach that will play the "game" and put a team on the floor worthy of the donation level and ticket price you require for good seats, or deeply discount said donation levels and tickets for the garbage product.

Agree. Anyone think Cal wouldn't have recruited D Rose to Kentucky if he had been there a few years earlier? Would have been the same deal, except the "punishment" would have been different.

Calipari will never get a good job now.

Seriously. 3MM+ for 5 years is an awful lot of not caring. Seems like we could have not cared for half of that at least.

Our athletic dept and our politicians are a lot alike. Just throw a bunch of money at something and hope it works out. Maybe Steve Cohen should be our AD?
